i disagree re: washington/seattle, i think that the 'skins will take that one. and i'm fuzzy re: chargers/titans. i do agree with the other 2, though.

Redskins vs. Seahawks

Skins have the hot hand right now, but I've got to go with Seattle on this one, since I went to school with their QB.

Jaguars vs. Steelers

I know the Jags are supposed to be the second coming, but Pittsburgh has the playoff experiance. If Cowher was still coaching this would be a no-brainer.

My gut says Pitt takes it.

NY Giants vs. Buccaneers

No team, all year, has played a good game after getting beat by the Patriots. Buc's take this.

Titans vs. Chargers

Chargers, fairly easily.

'Skins, Jags, Bucs, Chargers.

The two real questions I have are with the Giants (which Eli shows up) and Seahawks (can they stop the run).

i think the warm weather will prove irresistible to good eli. :> we all know about his woes in bad weather...

Seahawks, Jaguars, Giants, Chargers

I'm not too confident on the Seahawks or the Jags but I think they will take home the W.

Ed we all know that Eli can put together a farce no matter what the weather is like. :D

hey, when a maligned QB puts together perhaps his best game of the season in a game that "means nothing" against the best team in the league, well...and b/c eli's so streaky, i'm not at all concerned re: the post-pat collapse BB mentioned. :>

It's been a pretty wild 4th quarter in Seattle after a ho-hum first three quarters.

The Seahawk's D has been inconsistant, but they certainly showed up to play in that game!

The Jags have me worried.
They had the game won, then they let up and watched it slip away.
They got it back at the very end, but they clearly didn't show the killer instinct needed at this point in the season.

If the chargers win today the Jaguars are going to New England. It'll be interesting to see how that game goes.

ed, I'll be the first to offer your team props. Between the serious injuries and hit-n-miss-Eli, I didn't think they could get past TB today.

I'm honestly glad to say I was wrong. Good to see the G-men pull it off.

Congrats.

thank you, chris. i was surprised at how well the giants did against that tampa bay defense--they really did surprise me, and given how careful garcia's been all season w/ ball protection, the picks really surprised me.

i think the player who really surprised me today is the giants corey webster, a guy they drafted pretty highly but has been a bust--until today.

props to the jags and to the seahawks--i really thought the skins might be able to pull that game out but there's only so far motivation can carry a team, i guess.

pauly: i'm looking forward to good weather in texas stadium. :>

No one would like to see your Giants do well next week than me. Being a Packer fan, I'd like to see the Cowgirls knocked out of the running.

To play with the fire they did is a testament to their leadership.

And since I believe a tenth layer of hell was created for Tom Coughlin (for what he did to BC), I hate giving him props.

chris: yeah, you're betting eli can't play well in lambeau, aren't you? :>

BB: hey, i wasn't happy when i learned that coughlin was going to be the coach for the NYG. i don't believe i know the story re: BC/coughlin. ?

can i just say that i was really tickled that 3 NFC east teams made it into the playoffs this year? :D

Yer durn right! :p

But not just that. I'd rather face the Giants on our own home turf than to travel to Dallas and face the Cowgirls again. They already beat us there once this year. I'd rather not test those waters again. ;)

dallas is definitely beat-able. i'm just unclear on whether or not the giants can do the job, having blown it twice already this season, you know? :>

Coughlin was coaching at BC, and came out and said he was staying to finish his contract.

He started recruiting, and got 2 or 3 significant players to agree to come to BC.

And then took the job at...Jacksonville I think it was. The recruits all bailed. It took BC a few years to recover.

Not that I liked him as a coach. He's the only person I know who thought that a draw play was the right call on third and six...every time.
