Whats your take on the Tiger's offseason so far? Its been very interesting, but I figure you'll have a much better analysis than me

I haven't been paying attention. I won't until spring training gets here and then I'll look at the whole deal and see what I think. Last year they had injuries and couldn't dig it out down the stretch. Then Ordonez got stiffed on the MVP.

I have a terrible time avoiding the compulsion to keep sports.yahoo.com/mlb open at all times and clicking Refresh every few minutes
Well I just read about their trade with the marlins and I'm annoyed. The tigers have a habit of trading away good pitching prospects to no avail. It sounds like they're maybe getting a decent pitcher in return but I'm dubious. We'll see how it turns out.

Miguel Cabrera is the prize of this latest deal. He's so young, yet so good. Dontrelle Willis is pretty good, but he has that messed up delivery. There's more ways for him to get out of sync than there would be for someone with a relatively quiet delivery, say like a Greg Maddux. I think it also makes him a bit more injury prone than is strictly necessary. But he's still pretty good right now.

Miguel Cabrera is a screwball, and Leyland I dont think will tolerate that. So either he will shape up and be even scarier than he is now, or his stay in Detroit will be short lived. His addition makes the Detroit lineup a thing of true horror (combined with the Renteria trade earlier, though Im not sure about that, Jair Jurrjens definitely seemed useful for the Tigers)
As one of the columnists said 'Ivan Rodriguez will go to the Hall of Fame as one of the all time best hitting catchers. On the Tigers he will bat 9th'
Dontreille Willis should probably be helpful to the Tigers, but he is no sure thing on health or effectiveness, if he is on hes scary, if hes not batting practice
With Zumaya injured the Tigers really need someone to be a setup man, and Im not sure anyone on there bullpen currently is up to that challenge. Todd Jones doesnt exactly instill confidence as a closer, but he is about as good a choice as possible considering what was out there, so if the game gets to the 9th the Tigers should be good most of the time
Do the Tigers have any reserves left? People will inevitably get injured or have bad years, it seems with the trading frenzy the Tigers may have noone decent available to call up
