Its not just because ginger is high maintenance... She was a minipulative whinny tramp, who threw her sexuality in everyones face and expected special treatment becasue of it. She never respected the other castaways as anything other then her personal toys... (you can expect that from Mr. Howell, filthy rich are rarely anyhting else) but from Ginger that just totally turns off the sex appeal. SHe constantly tried to manipulate the men on the island with her beauty and the constant hint of that goal which is just constantly out of reach...

Mary ann on the other hand was deeply centered in who she was, and treated the men on the island as friends, and never tried to use her sex as a tool. (IIRC, its been decades since i last watched...) She always seemed more personable, more approachable, more friendly, and more of just about everything except prima donna attitude. That to me speaks volumes as for whether i find her more attractive then ginger. And she is a brunette.
