Okay, so we have one no-show, and one possible no-show. Do we still go?

I'd say it's up to Salah.

One of the major plot hooks for this session focuses on Mouser's character, this time, so we really can't run it without him.

It's the other guys who are the problem, not me.

Don't hurt me!!

Tonight (28th) is my 15th wedding anniversary, so my Rabbi has forbidden me to play. I can be there next Thursday or the one after.

Okay. Well, since we're 50 percent down, and Mouser is 50/50, we will consider tonight's game cancelled and rescheduled for next week.

Have a wonderful time tonight, Salah, and happy anniversary.

I was absolute that I could make it!!

Where did you get this 50/50????

Or were you being ironic again?

I misunderstood. My bad.

If you can make it, and Pauly can make it, do you still want to run?

I'll do it, if you think it'll be worth it without the rest of the cast...

Combat won't be pretty, but it wasn't designed as a fight you could win, anyway.

Unfortunately no :( although I'd love to. But seriously you should give AMSO a chance. Could add a certain breeze of femininity to the testosterone laden air. :D

Really?! Interesting. She told me she'd love to. She's a big fan of your games. Hmmmmm.......

I could play next week if there's still an opening then.

At the end of the session, Jimmy was standing nose to nose with Private Fowles. The former held a wine bottle in one hand as a club, and a broken bottle top in the other. The latter had a cut across his cheek from the bottle top, a couple of deep cuts from an axe and was about to let Jimmy know how he felt about that when the helicopters arrived. Steve was laid out across the hood of a car watching the cute little birdies flying around his head, and singing.

This is what Jimmy saw and heard:

Helicopters. He saw the black shapes in the sky with no running lights. Two of them. They lowered rappelling ropes, and two squads of people dressed in black SWAT-type uniforms with no insignia came down the ropes. They used guns, but when they fired there was no muzzle flash, but simply a pop and a hissing sound. Jimmy hit the deck, and watched as they shot Private Fowles several times. He swatted at his chest and arms as if he were being stung by wasps, and then staggered and fell as if drunk. They also shot Jimmy, who fell unconscious.

Steve remembers little of what happened, although Jimmy described it for him later. Laid out on the front of the car, he remembers a little of the strange salute given him by Private Fowles, but he remembers the serial number:

Origen (GM): the young man stops
Origen (GM): and steps back
Origen (GM): as if ....
Origen (GM): sensing something
Origen (GM): his head turns side to side
Origen (GM): and then he raises his hand to his face
Origen (GM): and sniffs it
Origen (GM): his knuckles are bloodied
Origen (GM): and he turns slowly to Steve
Origen (GM): who is laid out of the front of the car
Origen (GM): the young man stiffens, and straightens
Origen (GM): standing at attention
Steve: (nutjob...)
Private Fowles: Sir! Command unit recognized!
Private Fowles: Combat Unit Private Fowles reporting
Jimmy Brown: What the fuck?
Private Fowles: Serial Number CU-G5-09-0037-IN
Jerry (DM): it's starting to rain, Jimmy
Steve: (don't mind me. I'm okay... I'll just lay here for a minute...)
Private Fowles: Sir, tactile authentication confirmed! Awaiting orders!

Jimmy also has this memory, which he may or may not choose to share with the others:

He was laying on the ground, twitching. His entire body was numb, but he was drifting in and out of consciousness. He watched the black clad men collect the body of Private Fowles, and carry it away. A woman walked up, surveying the scene. She looked like a school teacher, but the men in black BDUs stepped back from her. It was hard to say if it was out of deference, or fear, or disgust, or all three. She knelt in front of Jimmy, and said, "Interesting. This young man's eyes are following me. He knows I'm here."

She then kissed a fingertip, and traced a circle on Jimmy's forehead with it.

Of all the people present in the area, nobody remembered the helicopters, and over drinks, later, they teased Jimmy and Steve for mistaking the ringing in their ears for something else. Everyone bought drinks, though, and praised both Jimmy and Steve for being local heroes. The police arrived shortly thereafter, and in the minds of all present, the police took the young man away, though later research reveals that no arrests were made that night. Stories being what they are, though, some people will even remember watching as the young crazy man in camouflage was shot by state troopers, and they saw him stretched out across the hood of a car under a street light. Justice was served.

As a small footnote to the story, Jimmy's left shoulder is very sore for a couple of weeks following this little incident, and for about a week he takes a leak, the color of his urine is a strange orange color, but he can find no entrance or exit wounds of any kind on his body.

Jimmy and Steve are now both 2nd level.
