I have some squid ink pasta in my cupboard that I don't know what to do with.

It's in the shape of big fat rubber bands, like the ones holding broccoli stalks together.

Do you guys have any suggestions for a sauce?

I was thinking of something with shrimp or fish. I don't do mussels or squid.

Lend me your squid ink pasta fu!

I don't do mussels or squid.

That's a shame...

Did you know that a mussel's rectum passes right through it's heart?

Not food.

Rectum hell -- damn near killed him!

Anyway, that doesn't bother me. I've never heard of "squid's ink pasta" though.

I've had calamari. I like it.

and the theme ingredient is....

kyo no tema wa koro desu...

squid ink pasta!

:D

ahem....traditionally, one would serve that in fra diavolo sauce or perhaps a simple white sauce, i should think.

This sounds very interesting, praytell, where does one acquire squid ink pasta?

The fra diavolo sauce sounds good. Thanks, ed!

Squid ink pasta can usually be found in Italian groceries and sometimes fru-fru specialty shops.

yes, it does.

Does that influence the flavor or just the color?

Squid ink pasta is black. It's been many years since I had it last, and I don't recall that it has any particular flavor.

I'm not sure if there's a special taste to it, because the few times I've had it was a seafood heavy sauce.

I looked it up on some food glossary and it said the squid ink gives the pasta a slightly salty and sweet taste to it, but I've never had it, so I wouldn't know personally.
