(Rules question) Monsters as races and stat progression

Okay, say I'm making a Hound Archon (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/archon.htm#houndArchon) character. It has bonuses of +4 STR, +2 CON, +2 WIS, +2 CHA. Then it says that starting Archons have 6 levels of outsider. To that, I'm going to add four more class levels for a total of 10 levels and an ECL of 15 (because of +5 LA).

Do I still take a stat bonus every four levels? Or is the first stat bonus already figured into the base monster's stat bonuses?

i would imagine that stat bumps for [HD] are all already figured in.

You're going to get the single stat bump for the 4th class level. Since the Archon gets a base 6 HD (it's "racial levels") already as it's starting figures, your already getting everything figured in for those first 6 "levels".

That makes me think of a question.

Does he get the stat bump for his 4th class level, or his second (first 4 racial HD give 1, and the remaining two racial HD plus two class levels gives one)?

Stat bumps for monsters are ultimately derived from hit dice, so the 8 HD stat bump occurs at the 2nd PC-class level for a Hound Archon.

Monster characters were always confusing to me. Even when I read the rules, somehow I always miss something. Then I forget everything after a few months. *sigh*
