Jocelin Danis (Kalzazz's PC) -- RIP-ish 8/24/09

Jocelin Danis is a Native of New Orleans, or rather a rich suburb thereof, growing up as the craze for all things Asian struck the US very young Jocelyn thought Ninjas and Katanas and Origami and all such things were seriously cool. Doting (and rich) parents promptly imported a instructor (at great expense) for Jocelyn from Japan. While Jocelyn flagged when she realized how much actual work was getting involved in this, her parents were insistent, and after a near miss with a crocodile she flung herself into it and was in fact quite the success.

Later, Jocelin went on to enter St Michael the Archangels Preparatory School for Girls, a private religious institution, and reports filtered out that the Church might well recruit the young prodigy as a vampire slayer, so a certain Brujah was bored one evening and decided to make the first move. Though a good fighter, Jocelin with a bokken was outmatched against a full on vampire, but impressed her assailant such that rather than slay her he Turned her.

With her world suddenly turned to Chaos Jocelin sought solace with her faith (such that it was), and while Jocelin had never actually been the worlds best student she quickly made sense of things, He had Uplifted her to the next level of his Service as a member of the Higher Elect. After all, isnt drinking blood not far removed from transubtiantion without the middle man of the wine, and He had taken the form of a Burning Bush, so it was natural that His Elect got painful stigmata from being in the presence of His fiery skyborne avatar.

Which did not entirely make sense to her newfound Warrior Philosopher Brotherhood she had just found herself in, but that was okay and she had found a new home amongst them. Well,they were a little crude and crazy, but that was just a bit to be expected.

When Hurricane Katrina came, Jocelin, like much of the New Orleans populace found herself migrating off the Dallas.

OK, Jocelin can to a certain extent pick her friends, those she ran with in New Orleans before leaving because of the hurricane. I'd say 3-5, from clans Brujah, Gangrel, and Nosferatu, possibly Caitiff also. Samantha is the only Malkavian you knew of in New Orleans, and she didn't spend any time with the younger set. We're probably looking at all 11th-13th generation for her NOLA friends.

Check with me if you want to have any Toreador, Tremere, or Ventrue acquaintances.

Based on her feeding vow, she probably spent a fair amount of time in the tougher/sleazier parts of town, although she's probably also familiar with the standard bar scene as well. She wouldn't have had the right to feed first in most of the high-traffic bars, though.

Samantha kept herself aloof from Kindred politics almost all the time.

Camille is pretty snooty for a Gangrel, and you were very surprised to learn she was not another Toreador. However, she was also the most consistent source of info on the city's political dealings for the "rabble" clans in the city.

Bianca is tough and well-respected on the street. Any of your Brujah friends would have deferred to her before even the Prince or any of his brood. This occasionally goes to her head, but her clanmates are usually pretty quick about "keeping it real" for her.

There might have been some more Tremere in the city besides the three you've heard of. Sabine is the only one of the Warlocks who spent any significant time in the company of the rabble clans of NOLA.

Rumor has it that Etienne is fairly powerful, but nearly always sides with the Prince in political matters, and thus his presence is tolerated in the city. It usually took sustained and concerted effort from Camille, Bianca, and Sabine to gather enough support to counter Mr. Johnson's political will.

Black Cat, Yuri (aka The Talon), Antoinette Du Champ, Roman Alexander

OK, after the hurricane, the Brujah and Antoinette headed west to Houston, the Gangrel north to Baton Rouge, and you don't really know what happened to the Nosferatu.

I'll say that Jocelin was the only NOLA Brujah that went up to Dallas from Houston, but that Antoinette went with her. You aren't sure if everyone else from New Orleans stuck around in Houston or went to San Antonio, or even farther west.

The Brujah and Gangrel in New Orleans were kind of Anarch-ish, but not too strident about it, given that they had to learn how to work with the city's Tremere from time to time. The Nossies tended to side against the Toreador just on general principles of clan enmity, but weren't really Anarchs as such.

A couple of slight continuity changes from the preceding post -- all the Brujah that fled west from New Orleans went to Dallas by way of Houston, as did Antoinette. Everyone besides Jocelin actually went to LA for a while, then came back to Texas, and were in Houston at the start of the adventure (although this would not have been known by Jocelin or any of the other PCs).

Also, Zack North has spent some time in New Orleans, but isn't an inhabitant of the city. He's semi-nomadic, but comes around often enough that Jocelin might have heard his name in passing.

A quick personality sketch of the Brujah and Antoinette, since it might be coming up at some point...

Antoinette is pretty much just a fun-lovin' girl. She's the closest personality-wise to Jocelin.

Black Cat gives off a bit of a crazy biker chick vibe, but she's a lot of fun to hang out with.

Yuri is kind of a cool biker dude. Neither Yuri nor Black Cat care very much about politics. Antoinette really doesn't either, for that matter.

Uma is the closest thing to a "movement Anarch" in New Orleans, although she is still plenty fun to hang out with. She exhibits a different kind of mild craziness as compared to Black Cat, that of the political True Believer.

Although she wouldn't put it quite in these terms, Bianca is quite adept at a form of Sicilian politics. She doesn't really care what the Anarchs do and does little more than pay lip service to the Prince, but she is astute enough to realize when an Anarch might do something that would end up with the city establishment turning the heat up on the Anarchs. She is quite capable of beating some sense into the wayward Anarch(s) in that case. She can also rally the troops if it's the establishment that gets out of line, and use that threat of focused Anarch ire to get her way in the city sometimes.
