This is a poll for my Black Ops online campaign. One of the players has proposed that we use a wound chart of some sort in the game in order to add flavor to combat. I have obtained a copy of Rolemaster's Arms Law & Claw Law with very detailed, and somewhat amusing crits.

So, this is a poll.

Do you want to use these in our online Black Ops game?

Yes or no.

You forgot the Will Smith choice.

One thing to consider that hasn't come into play, yet, is that the massive damage threshold.

This is part of core rules in d20 Modern:

Massive Damage

Any time a character takes damage from a single hit that exceeds the character’s massive damage threshold, that damage is considered massive damage. A character’s massive damage threshold is equal to the character’s current Constitution score; it can be increased by taking the Improved Damage Threshold feat.

When a character takes massive damage that doesn’t reduce his or her hit points to 0 or lower, the character must make a Fortitude save (DC 15). If the character fails the save, the character’s hit point total is immediately reduced to –1. If the save succeeds, the character suffers no ill effect beyond the loss of hit points.

Creatures immune to critical hits are also immune to the effects of massive damage.

Actually, I think Steve had to roll that when he got his ass kicked by the soldier.

I think you're right. He scored a crit, if I recall.

<rubs sore jaw>

And laid me out on a car hood, as I recall.

Still hurts when it's rainy.

Would that be "Oh HELL no!"

Even if it screws my character I like the idea. It should definitely add flavor to the game. And I'm all about flavor! :D

No you're not.

Not this kind of flavor.

No you're not.

Not this kind of flavor.

I've played with crit location charts and such before. The ones that were like this one sounds were a lot of fun. It also allowed more for targeted shots and such.

In this kind of game I can see this being a cool addition.

There will be no called shots.

Only crits.

I will probably use a modified form of the crit charts in Arms Law & Claw Law.

If the to-hit roll is a crit, and the crit confirms, I will ask the character to roll percentile dice.

I will not fudge rolls, either.

I may allow action points to lessen the effect.

A kill can also be mitigated by the use of a Fate Point. Each character will have 3. Once those are gone, and you die, you're dead.

D-E-D dead.

Not so interested in having a blind or crippled PC.

An eyepatch might be interesting, but only after he is clearly Epic, and even then, only in retirement.

Maybe.

While the bionic eye is healing.

You get what I'm saying?

;)

For me the fun is in the role-playing. The building and growth of the character. Pain and damage can really help with that character growth. It makes it more interesting and challenging to me.

Pain, yes.

Damage, yes.

Crippling, debilitating injuries?

Not so much.

A scar chart might be fun, if it were voluntary or only hit after a certain level of damage, but losing an arm, a leg, a hand, an EYE!!

FTS.

Uh-uh.

:signs006:

NFW.

Whelp, we have one for, and one against.

Ought to be an interesting development.

I won't vote unless there is a tie.

All righty, then. The motion carries.

After 3rd level, I will start using crit charts.

I will post here how Fate Points and Action Points will affect it.
