Characters are going to start receiving advanced training, so I would like to record the various benefits of the training that people receive here.
For starters:
Basic Training.
Choose either to receive a +1 permanent bonus to Str, and a +2 permanent bonus to Con; or a +2 permanent bonus to Str, and a +1 permanent bonus to Con.
All people who attend Basic Training receiving the Personal Firearms Proficiency feat for free as a virtual feat.

Mouser and Hidufel receive this feat for free:
Officer Candidate School
You have graduated from an elite officer-training program.
Prerequisite: Int 13+, Cha 13+, Knowledge (Tactics) 5 Ranks, Teamwork.
Effect: Knowledge (tactics) becomes a permanent class skill for you and you receive a +2 competence bonus on checks using that skill. If you posses the Tactician feat, your Charisma modifier is increased by +2 for the purposes of that feat.
Special: Your rank is immediately improved to O-1. Also, you receive a +1 bonus on all future promotion checks. OCS is a one time opportunity in a character’s career to jump into the officer ranks (assuming you think that’s a good thing).

you had said last night that if we had already taken the Personal Firearms feat that we could choose another in it's place. Is this still valid?
Also since the rest of my team is in the hospital while I am finishing basic training (I was the only one who wasn't injured) will Jimmy be ahead of the curve throughout the rest of training?

Yes. If you had already taken the Personal Firearms Proficiency feat, you may take something else that you would have qualified for at the level you took it. In other words, if you took the feat at 1st or 2nd level, you cannot substitute a feat that you only qualified for at 3rd level.
Also since the rest of my team is in the hospital while I am finishing basic training (I was the only one who wasn't injured) will Jimmy be ahead of the curve throughout the rest of training?
You'll finish Basic faster, but more advanced training will come later.

All of you should have received a PDF file this morning that effectively replaces the Soldier advanced class with a set of several specialized forms of Soldier training. These will be used as stepping stones to the eventual final prestige classes of a Navy SEAL, a Delta Force operator, or whatever options you choose.

That sound you just heard was my head exploding.
That's a lot of data to download all at once.
I had everything all planned out, but when I think about this PDF...

Dammit. It happened again!

Thank you, Origen. That's quite a lot of info to digest. There are a couple of feats that look appealing, but I don't know if I have room for them and Gun-Fu and the Infiltrator/Gunslinger path. I'll have to think about this.

I do think the teamwork feat is one we should all take though when we can.
+2 to hit and to skill checks!

Teamwork is sexy for sure. But Blood and Guts is so feat intensive, I probably will never have the chance for it. Besides being the one non-military (private contractor ftw) in our group, it really probably does not make sense for me to have it. Oh well.

Ok,
Now that I am in trouble, (I am blaming Origen) for spending half of Saturday reading the new supplement info and figuring out every advance for Mike up to 11th level. When I was supposed to be helping to clean house. How long will it be before he adds something else new that will cause me to start over again. :confused2:

At about 6th or 7th level, I will introduce the next and final block of advanced classes that include Navy SEALs and Delta Force Operators. You have received one advanced class that fits your character concept rather well, I think. So has Dai Oni.
The materials you guys have now received should be viewed as transitional advanced classes that prepare you for the next step. If you need to change a few things around in order to reach the next step, I don't have a problem with that.

Agreed, but it needs to be Teamwork (Secret Black Ops/Area 51/X-Files Dudes/Whatever our team is called, dammit!)
Also, we actually have to use... You know... teamwork?

Blastum and Dr. Mercury, you have the MOS - Law Enforcement feat for free:
---
MOS - Law Enforcement
Law Enforcement characters provide security for critical military bases and resources, guard prisoners of war, and act as military police.
Prerequisite: Personal Firearms Proficiency
Skills: Choose any three of the following as permanent class skills: Diplomacy, Drive, Handle Animal, Intimidate, Investigate, Knowledge (civics), Sense Motive and Spot. If a skill you select is already a class skill, you receive a +1 competence bonus on checks using that skill.
Bonus Feats: Air Assault Training, Alertness, Animal Affinity, Armor Proficiency (light, medium), Attentive, Combat Expertise, Combat Martial Arts, Combat Driving, Combat Reflexes, Double Tap, Improved Disarm, Improved Trip, Jump School, MOS Mastery, Teamwork, Urban Warfare College.
---
By "Bonus feats" this feat adds those bonus feats to your permanent list of possible bonus feats. When you receive a bonus feat, you may choose from this list. It makes those feats a part of your permanent bonus feat list in the same way the skills you choose are added to your permanent skill list.
Dr. Mercury
04-09-2007, 11:52 PM
Coolness. Now I have a +6 Spot by only spending one skill rank: class features (Dedicated Hero), WIS Mod, and now a feat.
I'm going for the competence bonuses. Sense Motive and Investigate are the other two skills.
Blastum

I will have to look at my character to see what this will change. I will let you know at the game Tuesday (whenever I manage to get there).

Prerequisite: Personal Firearms Proficiency or Officer Candidate School
Skills: Choose any three of the following as permanent class skills: Climb, Craft (structural), Demolitions, Disable Device, Drive, Hide, Intimidate, Knowledge (tactics), Navigate, Search, Spot, Survival and Tumble. If a skill you select is already a class skill, you receive a +1 competence bonus on checks using that skill.
Bonus Feats: Advanced Firearms Proficiency, Air Assault Training, Amphibious Assault Training, Armor Proficiency (light, medium, heavy), Athletic, Burst Fire, Combat Martial Arts, Combat Reflexes, Confident, Cover Fire, Dead Aim, Desert Warfare College, Endurance, Exotic Firearms Proficiency, Far Shot, Forced March, Jump School, Jungle/Swamp Warfare College, MOS Mastery, Mountain Warfare College, Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, SERE, Signaling, Strafe, Teamwork, Urban Warfare College, Weapon Focus.
[NOTE: By Bonus Feats, this training adds these bonus feats to the list of any basic class, advanced class or prestige class's bonus feat list. Also, multiple competence bonuses do not stack.]
Origen

Dai Oni, you receive the following training as of 5th level:
---
Combat Driving
You are highly skilled at using normal vehicles in combat.
Prerequisite: Drive 4 ranks
Effect: When driving a normal wheeled vehicle you add your class Defense bonus and Dexterity modifier to the defense of that vehicle.
Normal: A character without this feat adds no bonus to the Defense of a car that comes under attack.
Bonus: This feat is a bonus feat for Fast heroes and Daredevils.

Perfect, it's like you were reading my mind! I just realized today that I had messed up last night when leveling Mike and was going to have to ask about this MOS (I thought I would have to drop anonther feat I had to get it!). I like this way much much better. :)
Dai Oni

Nice, I think any car can benefit from a +10 or +11 (can't remember which for sure) to the defense. And the MOS Rifleman is quite spiffy as well.

I had originally planned to start handing out stuff like this at 6th level, but it seemed appropriate to do it for the Cell 2 group after Operation Sunstrike.

Develop Undercover Identity [General]
Benefit: This is a free virtual feat for everyone in this campaign. The feat allows you to develop cover identities. This includes all supporting documentation - passport, birth certificate, social security number - and all in-game interactions involving your identity.
This does not give you the ability to forge the documents yourself. It simply gives you the ability to acquire those documents through underground channels. For assignments, the government will supply any documents you need. If you purchase them yourself, it is a DC 20 purchase check, or the cost of specific documents listed in the rules, whichever is higher.
In-game, this ability means that you know your cover. You do not have to make Bluff or Diplomacy checks when discussing issues directly related to who you are, or who you are supposed to be. This includes, but is not limited to, knowledge about the places where you have lived, jobs that you've held, people you've known. This ability basically handwaves getting caught with your pants down, or making basic errors like calling your teammates by their "real" names.
You don't make mistakes regarding your cover. This ability does not confer any resistance or bonus against mind-reading abilities, such as spells or psychic abilities. It does not keep you from having to make Bluff or Diplomacy checks regarding particular missions, or elements of those mission. But you are trained in adopting another specific identity, and maintaining it consistently.
A person may have 1 spare identity + 1 for each point of intelligence bonus. Replacing an identity and the accompanying paperwork takes 1d3 months.
