Steve lowered his shoulder and bent his knees just like the football coach taught him, slamming into the monster and launching him ten feet in the air. Unfortunately, he also leapt right into its jaws, impaling his arm on its sharp and jagged teeth before he could roll free.
*whammo*
A nearby tree stopped the monster's flight and it shook off the pain, running back to the poor damsel, her torso bare, her midsection covered in her own blood. So intent is it on feeding that it did not notice the large black man with the shotgun.
"This his how we do things where I come from." he quipped as he placed the muzzle of his Mossberg carefully against the creature and pulled the trigger.
The creature lay in a pool of its own blood, the human part begging for help as the demon half snapped its jaws in frustration. Jimmy heard the approaching soldiers and chambered another round, unsure whether or not he should administer the coup de grace.
Noting his wounded comrades, that the creature had fed on them as though they were kine, Steve scooped up the discarded .22 and approached. Quickly deciding what needed to be done, he stared into its eyes as they begged for help. Mercilessly, he put one round of .22 hollowpoint into its pleading right eye just as the mouth of what had once been his DI began to form the word "Please."
He safed the .22 and dropped it into the cargo pocket of his trousers as he moved closer to Aefe and the image directly out of the "Boy Scout Wilderness First Aid Manual" leapt unbidden to his mind. He silently apologized for invading her dignity in this way, and stopped her bleeding with.
Just as Steve turned to render aid to Mike, the soldiers with the balaclaves and MP-5s told him to freeze. Steve's temper rose as he realized his friend was dying and these jerks wanted him to lay down on the ground.
Since he almost always listened to men who were pointing guns at him, Steve lay down in pushup position next to Jimmy. One of the soldiers stood over him, one jackbooted foot applying pressure in the center of his back as the muzzle of his firearm made itself obvious by his right ear.
The soldier spoke into a radio, identifying his group as "Trident One."
"Trident?" Jimmy whispered to Steve.
"I guess that's because these pricks are three times as as arrogant as normal men."
"Quiet, you." The soldier snapped.
This pushed Jimmy's last nerve. He demanded to know where these assholes had been while the team was fighting this monster. He got no reply.
"Just what I thought."

Your writing is improving, Mouser.
I was just impressed because you did a successful Bull Rush on a creature with an 18 strength.
It was a heroic gamble that paid off big time.
Bravo.

Steve did what he had to in order to save the fair *cough*maiden*cough*.
Could have been worse.
Could have been a Medusa.
