Over the weekend I had a southwest turkey burger from Trader Joes and couldn't believe how yummy it was. I've always been scared of substituting turkey where beef is usually used, such as turkey burgers or turkey dogs, but I was so pleasantly surprised.

What are some store bought, no preparation other than heating required, food that you like?

Campbell's soup.

Hmm. There are some frozen meals that I enjoy serving to my family but I might get lynched by a segment of our membership if I mentioned them...

prepared foods generally don't interest me as i find my tastes aren't really in line w/ those of the people making flavor decisions in these areas, but i have to say that i'm rather fond of progresso's soups, esp their chowders.

There are a few varieties of canned soups that I don't mind too much.

I also have a strange and unexplainable thing for Pop-Tarts. I think it's because we weren't allowed to have them as kids, so when I went off to college and needed a source of cheap carbs they filled the bill.

And I have no problem buying prepared pies. I hate making pies; not to mention I'm less than accomplished at it. I rarely buy them, anyhow, unless we're having a large family gathering with my in-laws. If you set out a pie for a redneck they will gorge themselves upon it and get tired...so they leave sooner.

Since I like cooking, I'll cook something up. Left overs are de rigueur. If not, I'll cook up a pasta primavera or the cream of mushroom soup cheat. Since my nanny liked to have cooked rice on hand, I might do a fried rice with lots of stuff in it.

Although, if I'm tired, I'll open a can of soup, usually chunky beef vegetable.

If I'm craving and I haven't cleared the fridge of them, I'll simply go with a selection of cheeses and affettatto (cold cuts) with some bread. Those are my péché mignon.

It's hard to beat Hillshire Farms beef cocktail weiners, Macadamia nut butter on squaw bread with butter or something similar and a chilled bottle of Tejava...

I'm not fond of most convenience foods really.

But those awful, greasy, fake cheesy nachos you get at 7-11 or the movie theaters with soggy jalapenos....

I love em!

And naturally, your kids want the full junk food main course...

It's not exactly convenience food, but I clipped a couple of recipes from Reader's Digest yesterday (they were both actually Campbell's soup ads).

The one we had last night was ground beef, tomato soup, salsa, sour cream, cheese, and tortillas cut up into 1-inch squares. It was actually very good. We served it with cornbread.

Tonight it will be chicken breasts with rice and mixed vegetables and soup (I forget which kind) done in the oven.

Fast and easy--now that's convenience.

I like Progresso's split pea with ham soup. Sadly I can't get it here.

I will also buy Kraft dinner once every 4-6 months. I like the Scooby Doo pasta.

My girls favourite 'convenience' meal is baked beans on toast, with poached eggs and chipolate sausages.

and Toblerone

I never make my own Toblerone.
