I'm not talking about some off the wall thing that pygmies in Borneo eat; but rather the everyday sort of thing that most people tend to enjoy.
What don't you like that everyone else usually does?

Potato Salad. It's not that I hate it, but I just don't like the flavor or texture.
Which is weird because I like macaroni salad just fine, and I like potatoes prepared almost any other way.

Um... "Don't throw me into thet thar briar patch?"
For me, it's wild rice. Feels like I'm crunching roaches between my teeth.

Okra is the #1 offender. I'm convined it's from outer space.
Summer squash, like yellow crookneck. Bleargh!
Raw tomatoes in all forms except when disguised as salsa fresca.
Eggplant, except for Baba Ghanoush.
Any sort of aquatic creature beyond the standard fish (ie salmon, cod, orange roughy), including shellfish, shrimp, lobster, crab, octopus. Out of all of them, I dislike crab the least and have been known to try some on occasion.

I hate mayonaise; and most anything tainted with it. I'm also not generally a fan of mustard, insofar as condiments go.
But mostly, I dislike Mexican food. I can't pinpoint what the ingredient is in particular, but it must be something common to most Mexican dishes.

Probably Cumin then. Or Cilantro?

Sorry, just thinking out loud. Well, you know what I mean.

Actually, I use cumin and cilantro frequently when I cook. I don't think they're the culprits.

i detest fennel and all licorice-flavored things. i dislike balsamic vinegar as well. i really don't like sweet flavors in things that are not desserts, as a rule. it's becoming increasingly difficult to find such fare, i think.

Okay, in the spirit of honesty and transparency...
Realizing that any and all foodie-cred I may have attained is about to evaporate instantly...
I hate mushrooms.
<leaves the forum shamefacedly>
That's not incredibly uncommon, in my experience. A lot of people attach a "fungus must be gross!" stigma to them. To be honest, I'm not an extraordinary fan of them, either, but I won't turn my nose up at a dish if they're part of it.

I hate mushrooms. No problems here. The other four people in my house dislike a lot of foods that I love including mushrooms, fish, and certain green vegetables. I am truly deprived sometimes.

It started as the usual little kid fickle dislike, but then my father force-fed me a whole can of them to "teach me a lesson". Suffice it to say that as much as I wish I had a broader palate, this is an aversion that I'm not going to get rid of casually.Ugh. I could see that I guess.
There are lots of things I didn't like as a kid that I like now, though. Sauerkraut is one...

Ugh... Same reason I don't like vinegar.

There is an certain indian (or was it persian?) spice that simply doesn't do it for me. I get the gag reflex engaged on that one. It's not an usual spice. It was one of my "pick randomly from the list of foods that I have not tried" day and it didn't work out for me.
Something that I dislike intensely is overcooked pasta. I'll eat it if I'm at someone's place who doesn't know better (no sense in offending the host), but I will not enjoy it.

<leaves the forum shamefacedly>I actually like the flavor of mushrooms, but just can't stand to chew on 'em. Mr. marmalade gets all my large mushroom pieces, which is just fine with him.

the smell of vinegar esp wine vinegar triggers my gag reflex but that is because my dad made me drink tablespoons of it as a kid as a form of punishment.
then there is the food I am allergic to
bananas *whimper*
walnuts
avacodoes (I suck it up when I want to eat sushi)
I hate cabbage and anything made with it.
I hate raw cabbage, cooked cabbage is okay.

Have a long list...
* Lasagna & Ravioli - I love other types of pasta, but these I can't eat due to getting such pasta in school.
* Liver - The smell alone makes my stomach turn.
* Fishballs (fish that's been ground up and pressed together as round lumps, then boiled and served vith a bland sauce) - Again, can't even stand the smell of it.
* Meatloaf - yuck.
* Cauliflower - I like it raw, with a little bit of salt on, but once cooked it is the yuck...
Those are the ones I can think of right now.

School isn't a benchmark for culinary mastery. Have you ever tried them properly cooked (as opposed to completely waterlogged?).

Yes, but I still can't eat them. Even had problems with homemade lasagna as my mind makes me gag on it.

I don't like mushrooms either. I don't know about the taste really; it's the rubbery texture that I can't stand.
And, believe it or not, at the moment I'm tired of chicken. On its own, I mena (you know, barbequed chicken and the like.) I still like chicken when it's part of a dish, but on its own... I guess I've had too much of it at family meals and now I don't enjoy it anymore.

I don't like mushrooms, I don't like bell peppers (no matter what color they are) and I'm not a big fan of cheese (at best I tolerate cheese).
As you can guess, ordering a pizza for a large group means I'll always be stuck with something I don't like.
Aside from that, I don't like shellfish. Odd, considering I once worked for Red Lobster. I never tried squid or octopus, so I might be pleasantly surprised.
Just to be clear on something, I never considered myself a foodie, just someone who likes stuffing his face on occasion.

Mmmm, I LOOOOOOOOOOVE mushrooms. There is nothing better than a pepperoni and mushroom pizza for me.
As for dislikes... I'm an oddly picky eater. There are things that I love that few of my friends will touch (eel, anyone?) and I hate some of the most common foods around... such as...
1. pickles - gross. I don't want pickles to even TOUCH my food. I call them "ickles" and give any offenders to my boy.
2. melon - same as above... I don't like watermelon, honeydew, canteloupe, any of it... I don't want it touching my food either.
3. raisins - what a way to ruin a great oatmeal cookie.
4. licourice... ick
I used to hate mayonaise, but I can deal with it now. IF its going to be on a sandwich, I just want a little. However, I loooooove chicken salad.
There are other things, but I've grown up a LOT. I was a horribly picky eater as a child... yet we still ate a lot of Thai and Indian and other sorts of non-American food. My sister-in-law is super picky and doesn't like cheese, or ANY Chinese food, or a whole laundry list of stuff. She's worse than I was.

Aye, 'shrooms' are good on pizza. I personally like Pepperoni, Mushrooms and Italian Sausage on stuffed crust.
I hate pizza crust and with the stuffed crust, makes it eatable and actually taste good!

Eh, no fan, but don't gross me out either.
2. melon - same as above... I don't like watermelon, honeydew, canteloupe, any of it... I don't want it touching my food either.
The only "Melon" I like is watermelon, nice and cold with a nice sprinkle of salt over it.... oh so good... the rest, blech.
3. raisins - what a way to ruin a great oatmeal cookie.
AMEN! Raisins are ruined grapes, so disappointing!
4. licourice... ick
2nd AMEN! Hate that stuff. Any sort of "gummy" I don't like either.... think the thing that would be the closest that I do like are jelly beans.... and don't think they fully qualify as "gummy".
My sister-in-law is super picky and doesn't like cheese, or ANY Chinese food, or a whole laundry list of stuff. She's worse than I was.
There are only 2 ... no wait, 3 types of Asian food(s) I like.
Shrimp Fried Rice, Egg Rolls (prefer shrimp, but will eat others) and fortune cookies.

I would be willing to bet that I am worse than you are when it comes to being a picky eater.... Just ask LG, she can testify to that.

Water. I utterly cannot stand bottled water, tap water or other sorts of non flavored water. Mineral type waters such as Perrier are okay
Given a choice of water and not drinking I will simply not drink anything, even to the point of my vision going whacky and getting cold and hot and wobbly
I am getting tolerant of the diet flavored waters however from HEB and WalMart and such, but if its not flavored I wont drink it
As far as food goes, I dislike many salads, but this is a factor of many salads being bad salads. I cant think of anything that I dislike the entire category of, but just instances where it comes out badly I dislike

Raw tomatoes, especially cherry tomatoes. Texture and acidity.
Cilantro. Taste. Overwhelming and annoying.
Celery. Texture. This is the same root of my dislike for bok choy.
Cauliflower. Taste and texture.
Green bell peppers. I can eat yellow and red, if cooked. I dislike red bell peppers raw.
