View Full Version : Today's football games...
The G-men acquited themselves well but the Cowboys were just better. Nothing to be ashamed about there. (Not that they couldn't have played better but they did pretty much all they could under the circumstances and this was no meltdown IMHO.)
I'm happy for seattle and all but couldn't they have thrown a few TD's? I mean how hard is it? Jay Cutler looks like he's going to be pretty damn good eventually. He just has to learn when to take a sack. Something I'm sure he'll be lectured about at length this week.
Maurice Jones-Drew makes a good argument for Rookie of the Year just about every damn week. Talk about consistently good numbers...
We all knew Reggie Bush could do this. I'm just wondering why it took 13 weeks is all. (Maybe he's just getting touches that would have gone to Colston before?)
My poor, poor, sad, pathetic, Lions. Can we lynch Matt Millen yet? Please? Pretty please? I mean he really, really, deserves it. Honestly. I swear.
Edgerin James - Where have you been all season damnit! I needed you and you weren't there.
Yay for the bears. They're division champs. Could Rex Grossman please stop sucking? Not only is it costing me games in Fantasy Football but once the playoffs arrive you're just not going to win gameby shooting your peeps in the feet and with 21 pairs of feet to be shot off he's using something set to full auto... I mean do the bears even have an turnovers that aren't his fault for forced passes or fumbles? I'm just saying...

HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!! :go:
the giants did not play a good game. i watched it. so did pauly. and some of those penalties made no damned sense. others were stupid (4 unsportsmanlike conduct calls?!).
if i continue to watch giants games as they try to steer for a wildcard spot i'll get an ulcer.

They had some dumb penalties but only one turnover to Dallas' 2, kept Romo from having a big day, and held Julius Jones to 2.2/carry. That's not a bad game. It's not an excellent error free, "we did nothing wrong", kind of game but not a bad game.
it was more the giants beating themselves than the cowboys taking it to 'em, if you ask me. although i'm pretty happy that neither TO nor glenn had a big day, it seems the giants can't remember how to gorrammed tackle.

I'd think these were some really disappointing games if you are a Chiefs, Broncos, or Rams fan. Good week if you are a Bengals or Jaguars backer. I hold judgement on the Panthers in abeyance until they play, of course.

True, but if you are a fantasy owner of Colts' players, you had to be happy with the outcome.

my Cowboys beat them too

true dat Harrison had 7 catches for 172 and a TD
i hate to say it, but parcells teams are usually good in december, too.
represent our division well, pauly. cuz it sure as hell won't be my giants representing it.

As recently as last year we saw a wildcard win the superbowl and it wouldn't be the first time that one made it to the big game or otherwise did well in the playoffs.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines that now that the Colts have 2 losses, and the fact the SD is 10-2 and Baltimore 9-3, Indy won't be resting their key starters in Week 16, like they did last season. Wayne and Addai did squat for me this week.

Ed I almost started a thread with the title "HEY ED" in it I was just going to have a link to a game recap.
After reading that I'm really glad I took the high road and didn't gloat and rub your face in that game.

OK, it was also a disappointing week for the Panthers' backers. Good week for Iggles' fans, though, even if they did boo Garcia for most of the game.

Despite being 6-2 at some point.....they MIGHT squeek into the playoffs at 8-8....sadly.
w/out the starters, they're toast in the first playoff game, if they even get there. they had no pass rush against dallas. none. and they had no discipline. 4 unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, for crying out loud--what are they, the gorrammed raiders?!

Panthers-Giants in Week 14 is going to be a big swing game. I think this one is at Carolina.
week 14 gives the first team d a chance to be healthy. i am slightly less pessimistic.
slightly.

****: the giants aren't that team. not w/out toomer and the rest of the first team d.
This is the same franchise that won a superbowl with Jeff Hostetler at the helm. <spit> I'll believe that the G me are out of it when they're full of forks and set to broil. Not till then.

My beloved Packers having their asses handed to them hurt. But at least my adopted Chargers winning, and the Raiders losing (to the Texans!), made up for it a bit.
LT is a true wonder to behold. I gots nuthin' but mad respek for that nice young man.
Any RB worth his salt is going to tell you that he could never accomplish what he does without his O line and fullback. The only people I've ever seen footage of that left me thinking to the contrary were Gayle Sayers and Barry Sanders. Sometimes LT leaves me thinking that. (Like when he single handedly beat the raiders a couple weeks ago.)
****: no, they're out of it. they're playing undisciplined ball. 4 unsportsmanlike penalties, man. the d is playing better in the secondary w/ sam madison back, but until strahan's back at the other end of the d line, there just won't be any QB pressure. the o line is w/out a guard so the pass protection and run-blocking aren't quite up to snuff, either.
i can trust them to defeat a crappy team, maybe--no wait, they allowed 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to a crappy team a week ago.
they're so full of forks they might as well be a silverware drawer.

I'm glad the Colts aren't undefeated. I think that put a lot of pressure on them last season. I'm pulling for them this year.
The Bengals... well, they're not doing as well as most people predicted, but I think they can turn it around and do well next season.

The Bengals are coming on strong in the last month and are in a very good position for a wild card and could still take the division.
In the past 4 weeks they barely lost to a damn good Chargers team and then pulled of three convincing wins against the Saints, blanked the browns and won with defense against the Ravens.
I wouldn't count them out by a long shot.

You're probabbly right. I'm just not going to put a mark in the "eliminated from playoffs" check box until it is mathematically determined because of their history...

Not counting them out by any means. As long as they're still in it, they're a threat. And every Sunday I'm still going to be wearing my tattered Bengals shirt that I've had through thick and thin. :D
