Ortiz's response intrigued me. He got and used suppliments at his home in the Dominican Republic, and nobody thought anything about it. Whereas even in the US we have issues with suppliments being sold that infact do contain banned (and in some cases illegal) PED, it does hit me as possible that these products are highly likely to be less than up front about their ingredients.

That said, since Ortiz says that he stopped using these suppliments after the 2003 results, and has passed every "random" drug test since, it's possible that he's being honest.

That said, I can't imagine that he didn't suspect that the suppliments he was buying at home, which were so much better than what you get at GNC, weren't shady.

Looking at Papi's lack of physcial fitness in general...maybe not. He's of the old school, "We're baseball players, not athletes!" mentality.
