I'm glad the man didn't make a complete liar outta me. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4362093)

Quarterback Brett Favre has informed Minnesota Vikings officials that he will remain retired, according to The Star Tribune.

Coach Brad Childress confirmed the news to the Star Tribune, leaving the Vikings in an unexpected and awkward spot with training camp set to open Wednesday. The Vikings are now left to choose between Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels as their 2009 starter.

"I just think it was a rare opportunity to explore a Hall of Fame quarterback who had background in the NFC and in this division," Childress said to the newspaper. "He knows our system inside out ... This doesn't change anything about how I feel about our football team."

Kevin Seifert covers the NFC North for ESPN.com.

So I'm guessing the Michael Vick to Minny rumors are going to begin any moment now. Given that he can't play till week 7 I'm thinking the two places Vick are most likely to land are Minny or Denver.

I'm somewhat surprised, but if his arm hasn't healed properly or the drive isn't there, it makes sense.

I'm not sure how much sense Michael Vick makes for the Vikings. Or the Broncos, for that matter. Orton isn't that bad. I know I've called the Raiders in the past, but I'm not sure that Vick makes sense for them, either.

With a six game suspension Vick doesn't technically make sense for anyone. I think the suspension is goddell's way of saying to go be someone else's problem in the UFL. But of the NFL teams out there I can think of a few that wouldn't mind having him as either a fire to the ass of the QB, thus my thoughts of minny and denver, or an injury replacement. (Which makes me think Houston or San Fran.) And at week six if Denver isn't at least .500 I think McDaniels will be desperate enough to sack Orton if he isn't doing good.

And honestly the thought of Vick with Marshall and Royal with no running game to speak of is pretty sechsy.

Given Favre's history I won't truley belive it until the first regular season game kicks off.

That's a fair point. I'm hearing lingering rumbles that Favre might join the Vikes after the first two weeks of training camp are in the books. Not terribly likely, perhaps, but it's not impossible, either.

it may (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4406963) have been premature to grant favre as long as the regular season: a deal could be done as early as thursday, according to the all-favre network.

hi, i'm brett favre and i'm [rolls dice] unretiring!

i was pretty disappointed that he unretired to join the jets last year. this unretirement reveals that he's still working through his anger and bitterness towards the green bay management. parz said it 2 years ago: brett favre is selfish, and apparently doesn't care who knows it.

Don't get me wrong. If I were one of the best ever, with good years left in the gas tank, I'd be kinda bitter about being forced out by management too. But this is going a little far to fulfill a vandetta wish. OTOH I'm sure Farve wants those 2 games to beat the packers down.

that's the sticking point: i'm not sure he does.

Consider what he did for the jets with a torn tendon in his arm... Consider how far GB got with Rodgers under center... I'd say GB definitely made a mistake in forcing Farve out when they did. I think he's going to make them pay for it twice this year.
