ESPN asked TO for his thoughts re: vick's apparent impending return to the NFL, to be announced later this week. never afraid of opening his mouth, TO obliged (http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nflnation/0-9-135/Owens-calls-out-Goodell-on-Vick-s-reinstatement.html).
in brief: an additional 4 game suspension (the expected response from goodell for the start of the season is stupid.
in all honesty, much as i don't like TO, i think he's right on this. he's done his time and repaid his debt, hasn't he?

I'm wavering on this a touch.
On one hand, he's right he's repaid his debt, to society.
On the other hand, the NFL can do what they want themselves. They arent bound by the judicial system, they can, will and do what they want to their players is their form of handling it. Although 4 games is a bit low....
I'm leaning more towards TO's opinion, but the comissioner does isnt bound by the outcome of the judical side of society....

no, i agree, but goodell suspended him indefinitely the moment the charges were filed, didn't he? i'm not sure about the legalities re: the league's personal conduct policy and vick's contract, but i imagine that he was already suspended when the guilty verdict was rendered.

Correct, and goodell can go back and relook at that indefinate suspension at any time. I dont know what the policy is and Vick's contract said, so cant really comment there.
The other side is, worse offenders and repeat offenders definately have gotten less or more chances...

Exactly which is why I'm much more leaning to just let'em play.

Excatly, thre's no consistancy with Goodell's bans and punishments.
