Watson is co-leader heading into the weekend, and Tiger Woods looks like he'll miss the cut:

Watson held a one-shot lead going into the 72nd hole, missed an 8-footer for par to win the Open outright, then lost by 6 strokes to Stewart Cink in the ensuing 4-hole playoff. I guess that would be nerves on the 72nd, and then running out of gas during the playoff. That's gotta smart, even considering that Watson was certainly a longshot heading into the tournament.

Watson did manage to shave a cool 1,269 spots off his ranking, and now lies just outside the Top 100:

Had he won, he would have rocketed up to #45, which would have been in the range for getting exemptions into PGA Tour events. I suspect Tour officials will offer him an exemption for the upcoming PGA Championship anyways.

yeah since the rules change, which was any winner could enter at any age, the cut off is now 60 years old.

what's the point in having a cut-off, to drive guys towards the senior tour?
