I have little or nothing to add to this but I thought that anyone on this forum might be interested in an author and researcher named "Reay Tannahill". She has a few interesting books, including "The Fine Art of Food" (which I've never read so I don't actually know if it's interesting or not), "Food in History" (which I HAVE read and it's neat), "Flesh and Blood" (another food-related book as she explores the history of cannibalism) and, most interesting of all, "Sex in History" (some discussion of some alternate types of "eating", I suppose :smileysex: ).

Those sound very interesting. I think I may just check them out. :)

Thanks.

While the other two look intresting I'm afraid Sex in History has nothing to do with food

* SEX IN HISTORY, by REAY TANNAHILL. A historical and world-wide survey of sexual attitudes, customs, and practices in all the world's major civilizations from earliest times to the present day. It is a history of sex, relationships between the sexes, and how sexuality has influenced the whole course of human development. Very scholarly, witty, readable and thought provoking with an update on the impact of AIDS hysteria on current sexuality.

I have a copy of Food in History, and it is pretty neat. I especially liked the parts about primitive hunting parties that would save all the really good parts of the kill for themselves (organs, etc.), and cook it all up in the stomach of the animal suspended over the fire. It made me think about orcs and goblins.
