Just putting it out there early that Thursday Night Football resumes in Week 10. Denver and Cleveland are going this Thursday, so if you want to start any Broncos or Browns, make sure you have all such players in your lineup by Thursday afternoon.

Also, the following two questions:

1. Is everything OK with Psynight?

2. If so, why isn't he managing his team?

I believe he has completely given up. The utter failure of his home team and destruction in FF being the root cause.
EDIT: Of course I don't know that to be 100% certain though. I'll check with him.

Brady Quinn is muy caliente for Kellen Winslow right now. Good thing the Angels got Winslow in their lineup.

Quinn would have been worth my time to start sadly.

But royal is going big with that 93 yarder. :sacool:

Eddie Royal is en fuego. Just hauled in another 22-yard catch. 6-164-1 and counting...

Thursday Night Football SUCKS.

I could maybe get over it, if it weren't broadcast ONLY on the (spit!) NFL network, which Comcast took away unless I wish to pay for a whole slew of worthless sports channels.

Brother Brian
11-07-2008, 09:18 AM
Don't blame Comcast.

Cable networks get paid by the cable companies based on the number or subscribers have the channel.

Of your standard cable channels, ESPN is far and away the most expensive, and will only agree to be included as part of a basic package. Since not having ESPN would pretty much exclude people from taking cable, the companies pay it.

The NFL Network wants more, per subscriber, than ESPN. They will allow it to be packaged with other networks in a Tier (Usually a sports tier, sometimes a "All the best" tier), but will not, under any circumstances, allow the cable company to package it singlely. (Because they know that people will pay the $7 a month for it during the season, and then cancel.)

Plus, you're lucky to have it available. Time Warner refuses to do business with them at all. (Tuesday a rep from the NFL network will be on local sports radio to explain why it's not their fault we can't see the Patriots / Jets game.)

At this point, I will not give the NFL any money for their crappy network.

Starhawk

What really chills me is the possibility that the NFL will decide to take more games in-house.

Their network sucks. Their announcer teams suck. Their programming (other than live games) sucks. I, too, have no interest in paying for their stupid network.

Screw the NFL if they make football unwatchable I'll start to patronize one of the 3 college teams in my area and/or get into coaching at one of the HS's int he district.

Week 10 scores after the Thursday night game:

Wily Corn Trolls (8-1) - 0.50 (Braylon Edwards)
Demolition (5-4) - 12.9 (Jamal Lewis)

Neanderthals (6-3) - 0.0
Zohan's Posse (5-4) - 0.0

Fighting Friars (5-4) - 0.0
Fallen Angels (1-8) - 22.0 (Kellen Winslow)

Trifecta Wookies (4-5) - 19.0 (Eddie Royal)
SnakeBitten (5-4) - 6.0 (Tony Scheffler)

Tribbles (3-6) - 0.0
2nd helping skillets (4-5) - 13.0 (Brandon Marshall)

We'll see if Braylon's disappearing act presages "one of those weeks" for WCT. Fighting Friars left 29.7 points from Jay Cutler on the bench. They are rooting for Matt Ryan to have a huge game now.

Neanderthals (6-3) - 32.4 (Brees, Slaton, T. Jones, J. Jones, Furrey, Josh Brown, Tennessee D/ST)
Zohan's Posse (5-4) - 52.5 (Favre, Ray Rice, Andre Johnson, R. Moss, Coles, Crosby, NYJ D/ST)

Fighting Friars (5-4) - 34.4 (Matt Ryan, Turner, Evans, R. Royal, Gostkowski, JAX D/ST)

Tribbles (3-6) - 37.4 (Garrard, MJD, Roddy White, Matt Jones)
2nd helping skillets (4-5) - 43.1 (Lynch, P. Thomas, Welker, Minny D/ST)

MJD got a first-half hat trick, and Thomas Jones narrowly missed one of his own. The Vikings D has posted two safeties in the first half.

105 pm update, just before Adrian Peterson's TD run (which is under review):

Wily Corn Trolls (8-1) - 31.7 (Peterson, Chris Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Olsen)
Demolition (5-4) - 35.9 (T. Edwards, Forte, Bironas)

Neanderthals (6-3) - 61.8 (Brees, Slaton, T. Jones, J. Jones, Furrey, Josh Brown, Tennessee D/ST)
Zohan's Posse (5-4) - 65.9 (Favre, Ray Rice, Andre Johnson, R. Moss, Coles, Crosby, NYJ D/ST)

Fighting Friars (5-4) - 57.4 (Matt Ryan, Turner, Evans, R. Royal, Gostkowski, JAX D/ST)
Fallen Angels (1-8) - 24.5 (Jennings)

Trifecta Wookies (4-5) - 59.0 (LenDale, Mason, GBP D/ST)
SnakeBitten (5-4) - 36.4 (Grant, Baltimore D/ST)

Tribbles (3-6) - 61.4 (Garrard, MJD, Roddy White, Matt Jones)
2nd helping skillets (4-5) - 56.6 (Lynch, P. Thomas, Welker, Minny D/ST)

Gotta add at least another 7 to WCT's total if AP's TD run stands up to replay review, but I wanted to do an update before the afternoon games started.

245 pm update, after the Steelers-Colts game goes to halftime:

Wily Corn Trolls (8-1) - 51.9 (Kaeding, Pitt D/ST)
Demolition (5-4) - 35.9 (Chambers)

Neanderthals (6-3) - 71.3 (M. Harrison)
Zohan's Posse (5-4) - 72.9 (Dallas Clark)

Fighting Friars (5-4) - 80.5 (DeAngelo Williams, Jamaal Charles, Wayne)
Fallen Angels (1-8) - 24.5 (7 players in SNF/MNF games)

Trifecta Wookies (4-5) - 84.2 (Tyler Thigpen, Bowe, Gates)
SnakeBitten (5-4) - 56.1 (Rivers, LT, Stevonne, Muhammad, Kasay)

Tribbles (3-6) - 82.2 (Addai, T. Gonzalez, Indy D/ST)
2nd helping skillets (4-5) - 66.1 (Peyton)

Neanderthals got a late TD from Brees in the early games in addition to the aforementioned TD run by Peterson for WCT that occurred just after the browser refresh for the previous update. Fallen Angels have almost all of their lineup going in tonight's and tomorrow night's games, so it's kind of hard to figure what's going on their game vs. the Friars.

Here are the scores going into SNF. I'm feeling lazy, so I haven't updated the players who just played with player left to play tonight and on MNF as I've done the past few weeks:

Wily Corn Trolls (8-1) - 57.9 (Kaeding, Pitt D/ST)
Demolition (5-4) - 35.9 (Chambers)

Neanderthals (6-3) - 71.8 (M. Harrison)
Zohan's Posse (5-4) - 74.4 (Dallas Clark)

Fighting Friars (5-4) - 91.1 (DeAngelo Williams, Jamaal Charles, Wayne)
Fallen Angels (1-8) - 24.5 (7 players in SNF/MNF games)

Trifecta Wookies (4-5) - 108.7 (Tyler Thigpen, Bowe, Gates)
SnakeBitten (5-4) - 82.9 (Rivers, LT, Stevonne, Muhammad, Kasay)

Tribbles (3-6) - 101.6 (Addai, T. Gonzalez, Indy D/ST)
2nd helping skillets (4-5) - 77.6 (Peyton)

I know the WCT-Demolition matchup is still live. Demolition still has Westy, Boldin, Boss, and the Giants D/ST to go, and WCT has the Warner-to-Fitzgerald hookup still in play. The result could very well hinge on where Warner's TD passes (assuming he has any) go tomorrow night.

Since there are so many guys going either tonight or tomorrow night, I'll give an SNF halftime update:

Wily Corn Trolls (8-1) - 57.9 (MNF - Warner, Fitzgerald)
Demolition (5-4) - 54.5 (Westbrook, Boss, NYG D/ST; MNF - Boldin)

Neanderthals (6-3) - 71.8
Zohan's Posse (5-4) - 76.3 (Jacobs)

Fighting Friars (5-4) - 91.1
Fallen Angels (1-8) - 43.0 (McNabb, Burress, Carney; MNF - Gore, Edge, Breaston, SF D/ST)

Trifecta Wookies (4-5) - 108.7 (MNF - Hightower, Nedney)
SnakeBitten (5-4) - 87.4 (Toomer)

Tribbles (3-6) - 107.1 (K. Curtis, Akers)
2nd helping skillets (4-5) - 77.6 (BYE - Housh, Folk)

The Trolls-Demolition matchup remains the most interesting at this point. If the Demolition players can replicate their first-half scoring output, they'd have a 15-point lead, give or take some loose change, going into MNF, which would leave the game pretty close to a 50-50 proposition.

Detritus
11-09-2008, 11:37 PM
Ginormous drop by Boss in the end zone. That should have been another TD catch for him.

Detritus
11-10-2008, 12:58 AM
Here are the scores heading into MNF:

Wily Corn Trolls (8-1) - 57.9 (MNF - Warner, Fitzgerald)
Demolition (5-4) - 61.7 (Westbrook, Boss, NYG D/ST; MNF - Boldin)

Neanderthals (6-3) - 71.8
Zohan's Posse (5-4) - 94.6 (Jacobs)

Fighting Friars (5-4) - 91.1
Fallen Angels (1-8) - 62.3 (McNabb, Burress, Carney; MNF - Gore, Edge, Breaston, SF D/ST)

Trifecta Wookies (4-5) - 108.7 (MNF - Hightower, Nedney)
SnakeBitten (5-4) - 87.4 (Toomer)

Tribbles (3-6) - 117.1 (K. Curtis, Akers)
2nd helping skillets (4-5) - 77.6 (BYE - Housh, Folk)

The new most interesting matchup is the Friars-Angels game. Two second-half TDs by McNabb helped lift the Angels to within 28.8 points of the Friars, and there are still four Angels to play tomorrow night. It's definitely within reach, although Edge's contribution may be limited if he has really been relegated to true backup status.

A lead of 3.8 points most likely will not get it done for Demolition, since Boldin's production will be very strongly correlated with Warner's. They pretty much need all of Warner's TDs to go to Boldin, a quiet game from Fitzgerald, and a number of sacks, turnovers, and low completion percentage by Warner to pull out the W against the Trolls. A Boldin TD run would also help, but that's a low-probability event.

Detritus
11-10-2008, 01:12 AM
The first game between the Niners and Cards meets most of the victory conditions for Demolition:

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/boxscore?game_id=29540&displayPage=tab_box_score&season=2008&week=REG1&override=true

If things play out the same except for flipping the TD pass from Fitzgerald to Boldin, that would 14 points for Demolition, 13 for WCT. However, Warner is in a much better groove now as compared to Week 1 -- his completion percentage has been around 70% since then, and he has 15 TD passes in those seven games after Opening Week. The Cards are also getting the Niners at home this time around, so crowd noise disruption won't be an issue.

In addition, the Trolls also have to rally vs. Demolition, which is likely but not certain to occur. Assuming that happens in concert with an Angels rally, your guys have to outscore Boldin by something like 9 points tonight to move into 4th place.

I'm not blaming anyone or insinuating that they dropped the ball, except for the absentee owner. My point was that I was "screwing myself" by having **** prod Psynight in Week 7. Then, when he didn't show the last two weeks, it was time to give him another prod. His opponent was incidental to just having him manage his team.

(Unofficial) Final Scores:

Wily Corn Trolls (9-1) - 106.9
Demolition (5-5) - 81.5

Neanderthals (6-4) - 71.8
Zohan's Posse (6-4) - 94.6

Fighting Friars (5-5) - 91.1
Fallen Angels (2-8) - 97.9

Trifecta Wookies (5-5) - 122.0
SnakeBitten (5-5) - 87.4

Tribbles (4-6) - 117.6
2nd helping skillets (4-6) - 77.6

I don't believe we've ever had a 9-1 team before. Also, the Cardinals' passing game is just über right now. Warner is the #1 QB, and Boldin and Fitz are #1/#2 at WR for our scoring rules.

I can't get in, either. I'm pretty sure Parz finished 9-5 last year and didn't end the regular season on a four-game losing streak, though. We didn't have any 9-1 teams the first two years (that I can recall), either.
