Jocelin's Dream (pre-dawn Sun. 4/1/07)

Somehow realizing that this is a dream, Jocelin sees Sarah standing before her.

With a little Sarah smile on her face, she points her right index finger upwards. Suddenly, a jet of flame bursts forth from it, maybe a foot high. She then puts her left palm over the tip of the flame and pushes down to her fingertip, extinguishing the jet.

"Piece of cake," she says. Then she does the same thing, except with her right hand extinguishing a flame coming from her left index finger.

"Nothing to it."

Sarah then points both her index fingers at you for a moment, and makes little bang-bang motions with her thumbs before pointing her fingers up. A jet of flame appears from each fingertip. She moves her hands a couple inches towards you and says, "Your turn."

Can I get a Courage roll for Jocelin?

You reach your hands towards the flame, begin to feel their heat as your touch draws close, but at the last minute cannot go through with extinguishing them.

"It can take a little getting used to," says Sarah. "Not bad for a first try, though."

Derisive laughter rings in your ears immediately after Sarah finishes speaking.

"I knew you wouldn't be able to do it."

You whirl around and see Heather, a twinkle of malicious glee in her eyes.

"I believe I see a cowardly lioness before me," she says. Rage builds inside you, the thermonuclear rage that is the birthright of every Brujah. You find yourself holding your katana, and are able to call up your powers of speed and might in an instant.

At that moment, you hear Antoinette cry, "Jocelin, where are you, help me!"

"Ah, yes, one more thing for you to consider," says Heather. She points toward Antoinette, who hangs from her ankles above a pit of roaring flame of indeterminate depth. You also trace the path of the chain that holds her up, and see that Heather stands upon its end with one of her feet.

"Catch me if you can," she says, and she flees. Antoinette begins to fall as soon as Heather makes her break.

Cursing under your breath as you vow dire revenge on Heather, you make it to Antoinette in a flash, leaping over the flames, and catching her at the top of your leap. Only then do you realize that you don't know how far it is to the other side of wherever it is you are.

You fall lower than you started, the flames beginning to envelop you both, when you feel yourself floating upwards. The miracle of flight has touched you once again. Higher and higher you go, until you make a soft landing. Sarah stands before you, and you realize all three of you are naked.

"You freak!" Antoinette shouts at Sarah. "Is this your idea of a joke?"

"The dream is hers, not mine," Sarah replies, pointing at you. She does laugh as if she just heard the punch line to a fine joke before turning her head towards you.

"There is no try," she says, and she does the fire trick again, left hand extinguishing a jet of flame from right index finger.

"There is only do," she says, reversing the roles of her hands.

You waken in a dim, unfamiliar room, undressed, and with Sarah's nude form hovering over you.

"Good morning, sunshine," she says in a chipper voice. You look over and see Antoinette, also naked, lying next to you, just beginning to come to.
