I got to watch the fire department in action down the street early in the morning.

How good are Supers at dealing with burning buildings. The ones in the comics are handled pretty efficiently by Super characters. But PCs? Back in the 80s there was a Champions GM who made a burning building his scenario. No villains, no hidden death traps, just a very obvious one with civillians in need of rescuing.

3d6 area killing attacks for burning area and a shortage of life support against smoke nearly did us in IIRC.

So A) How well would your Supers or your players' PCs do vs fiery environments?

B) How well do your rules support running fiery environment situations?

Warpéd Warrior, my primary character for the Section 8 game, had the sustained power to negate energy (including extreme heat) in a radius effect, which made his one burning-building rescue incident a resounding success. Had it happened later in his career, when he learned to extend his Regeneration effect into the field, he'd be even handier to have around for such things.

I don't remember it ever coming up in other games.

Even the ones immune to the flames may have to seriously struggle to get the completely flammable occupants of the building out in time.

Hmm ... thinking of the three nova PCs I played with my last group ...

The SuperGeek would have done fairly well. Telekinesis with a 50m range means he can pull out anyone that his hyper hearing could find, and he wouldn't need to worry about getting close enough to get seriously burned. Alternately, he can double as a fire escape ladder, or even the trampoline (by 'catching' people mid-air and slowing them before they splat).

The Shapeshifter would have had more troubles. Surviving without oxygen - no problem. Surviving when a burning building drops on you ... well, he died by standing on top of a coulpe hundred pounds of C4, so that's less likely, and he was arrogant enough to charge in there and trust blindly in his powers.

The Actor would have actually done better. He had the ultimate survival, as well as limited invulnerability to just about everything. Biggest problem is he's not strong enough to actually pick up anyone and carry them out!

Inhuman could do some water stunts but he would be limited (88 gallons right now, that isn't a whole lot)

Sadly, we tried very hard to emulate cosmic-level PCs, so a lot had either Armor with Life-Support or Adaptation. One actually could absorb flames/heat, so it would have been a 30-second scenario at most.

Still, it is a valid point and depending on how many floors you have, it can be a daunting scenario:

I did however place my cosmic uberheroes on an "Alien" styled world, where acid rain was falling, causing Adaptation to be used at 2pp/turn to protect themselves. That woke them up.

In a firestorm scenario, I'd make it 1d12/turn and let them handle it by "rolling with it" as power point loss for heat exhaustion if they can - but what they could not "roll with" would be a burn/smoke/1st degree burn.

One of the players in my FtF Group had played a fire controlling firefighter when we first started our current campaign. He's since moved on to a different character, though the firefighter shows up rom time to time in the campaign :)

Well, my character Red Gazelle from M&M would do so-so. She would survive the heat with ther regenerative powers, but have problems with smoke-inhalation. On the other hand, she would be able to quickly get to people or bring lightweight equipment to the places needed with her superspeed and her ability to run on walls or over uneven terrain without hindrance, so she would be able to quickly gather fire-extinguishers etc. Also have good evasion-ability and acrobatics skills for avoiding falling things, as well as blindfighting so she isn't totally lost in darkness.
