Instead of supply character name and specific powers, here's a hopefully generic origin that suggests abilities.
Anyone want to try to build a character to fit it?
[Character Secret Identity] is the child of two Paleontologists from Greymouth (South Island) New Zealand traveled with his/her parents on digs now and again and was with them on a summer long expedition to Easter Island.
Both Professors Richland discounted the notion that the statues on the island were modeled after alien visitors. Von Daniken nonsense nothing more.
[First name] was out and about and alone when (s)he encountered one of the Aliens. It was about man size. The statues clearly weren't to scale, or this one was exceptionally small. It pointed a device at his/her and shot his/her with some sort of energy projector that painfully altered him/her in subtle ways.
In between moments of agony (s)he and it communicated, mostly of things that cannot be verbally expressed in any human tongue. However (s)he did get the question 'why are you doing this to me?' out and the obscure reply of 'Because you are/have/will be the one who receives this.' which indicated the Alien either does not understand the concept of past present and future or was outside of time and enhanced the being the timestream put in place to be enhanced.
Sometime soon after that came greater pain and the mercy of unconsciousness.
(S)he awoke near sunset and over the next couple of months rapidly saw improvement as an athlete who could exceed human normal limits, able to do incredibly complex mathematics and had certain knowleges of how the universe really operates.
