Same deal as my two other threads Tell us a little about your characters for Green Ronin's Mutant's and Masterminds. My was (is) character is a cyborg and former member of the US Army's Delta Force counter-terrorist unit, named Peace Keeper. His cybernetics are alien bio-mechanical implants, that grant him a wide range of capabilities ranging form enhanced strength, and senses, to increased efficiency in combat. I just might post his write-up for your view ing pleasure (that's if you guys would be interested).

Well, this is what we currently play and what I GM at the moment. So my list of characters is quite large ... in fact, with the codex I'm working on, I've just hit 187 pages. I run about 7-8 campaigns face to face and may have an online one going live here soonish (plus I'm thinking of running one with my kids). All of which happen in the same world, the characters being adapted from my past games in pretty much every other system ;)

My character in the game I play in is Red Gazelle.

She is a speedster (6 lvls of super-speed giving her an all-out-move of 892 M/S and an insane iniative of +29. She can also perform mundane tasks 100 times faster than normal), with a touch of martial artist as she uses Escrima sticks to fight. She can run on water without sinking, running up walls, or on uneven or slippery ground without risk of falling or loosing speed (Definetly has the typical superheroine-advantage of "Fighting in high heels").

Her healing-powers are quite advanced and she will recover relativly quickly from most injuries (even the ones that drain attributes). Attacks that would kill her merely renders her unconscious and stabilized (to kill her, you need to hit her again).

She is a part-time student at the Freedom City University, who works as a waitress in a seedy bar (yes, she is old enough to legally be there and drink alcohol). She likes to party hard at various raves when she has any spare time.

She has tons of skills and knows a lot of what is going on in the city.

Red Gazelle is of American/Philiphine decent as her american father met and married her mother while stationed at a military base in the Philiphines. Once you get to know her she is very loyal to her friends and definetly one of the good guys who will gladly try to save the innocents.

OK, here is my now "retired" (he's used as an NPC now) M&M character Peace Keeper, and some background info on his team. Let me know what you think of him.

SAFEGUARD
Safeguard is currently the official US Government sponsored super team (How the formation of BSI's MERG will affect it is not known at this time). The team was formed after the disbandment of the purely military operated Joint Meta-human Security Task Force/Alpha Blue . Its members are selected for their abilities, trustworthiness, and dedication. It's primarily composed of federal law enforcement officers and US military personnel, but several individuals have been drawn from other government agencies. All of its members are sworn federal law enforcement officers and have joint jurisdiction with the FBI, BSI, US Marshals Service, and Secret Service in cases involving metahumans.

The team’s public HQ building is located in Arlington, Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C. In reality the main HQ facility, codenamed Stronghold, is an underground bunker complex located in the mountains of western Virginia. Stronghold contains living quarters for team members and support staff; training rooms; repair facilities; office space; a hanger for the team’s hypersonic transport aircraft, the “Thunderhawk” (designed and built by Avery Aerospace); and anything else the team would need to operate. The site’s cover story is that it's a FEMA emergency equipment storage site. In addition, the team also maintains several support sites around the county.

Safeguard’s current membership consists of the following team members:

Background/History: For as long as he can remember James White has always known what he wanted to be, a soldier. And not just any soldier, he wanted to be the best. After finishing high-school, he enrolled in the Virginia Military Institute, and upon graduation he accepted a commission in the US Army. Choosing Infantry as his branch of service, he served tours as a Platoon Leader with the 82nd Airborne Division, and XVIII Airborne Corps Long Range Surveillance Company (LRSC). Rapidly rising through the ranks, he was soon promoted to Captain, and assumed command of a company of Rangers within the 75th Ranger Regiment. Not long after, a recruiting team from the US Army’s elite “Delta Force” contacted him. Thinking this was the opportunity he’d always dreamed of, he jumped at the chance.

After successfully completing the unit’s grueling selection and training courses he was finally accepted as a full fledged member of the unit. He soon took command of one Delta’s assault troops. During the next few years, he managed to complete a number of highly classified, and dangerous missions, without sustaining any serious injuries or any fatalities among his troops. All of that would soon change. Capt. White’s team was sent on a mission to investigate a mysterious object that had crashed near a US radio listening post located deep in the Honduran jungle.

Upon their arrival at the “crash site”, the team encountered what they believed to be an alien spacecraft, and he was ordered to secure the craft for further investigation. The craft had sustained extensive damage, but not all of it appeared to be from the crash. Some of it looked to have come from some type of weapons fire. With a little reluctance, Capt. White instructed his team to slowly enter the craft. At first, things seemed to be going smoothly, but then the ship’s auto defense system suddenly kicked in. Assuming the Delta troopers were part of the hostile force that had attacked it in space, it reacted. It’s initial assault killed everyone but Capt. White. He lay bleeding and comatose for hours.

When the spacecraft’s mother-ship arrived in earth orbit to retrieve it’s long range probe, it detected the remains of Capt. White’s Delta Force troops. While they were unable to save the other team members, they were able to stabilize Capt. White. To show their remorse for the unfortunate event, they made a number of “improvements” to his body.

After completing their “repairs” his alien benefactors transported him to nearby US military base. When White awoke he discovered that these improvements included a number of techno-organic cybernetics. The cybernetics improved his strength, speed, endurance and overall fighting abilities, they also allow his to resist damage and environments that would kill normal humans. They also injected a number of self-repairing nanites into his blood stream.

After a short recovery period, Capt. White was soon back on active duty, where he was assigned to a number of missions dealing with metahumans. He soon heard of a new government sponsored superteam program, Project Safeguard. Thinking that his new abilities would best be put to use within the group, he immediately volunteered his services. However, he was shocked to learn, that not only had the Army planned for him to take part in the program, but that he had been selected as the team’s new leader.

Assuming the codename, Peace Keeper and promoted and to Major, he took command of Safeguard, putting his new through their paces. While some of the team members think that he can be harsh in his criticism, and that he’s cold stand-offish, they all respect him and know he’d never leave one of them behind. James still feels a great sense of remorse, do to the loss of his of his Delta troops, coupled with bad case of survivors guilt. He‘s vowed that he would never again fail troops under his command.

Thanks. I "retired" him when I started running the weekly (or what was supposed to be weekly) M&M game at my game shop. After that, work, and few other things were eating up to much of my time to start playing him, so I ended up introducing him, along with the rest of Safegaurd, as a recurring NPC. While I'm thinking about it, have any of you guys ever done the same thing, used one of your old characters as an NPC in a game you were running?

Oh yeah Absolutely.

the Rook is generally the "superman" character for my campaigns. the ultmate sort of hero that the players characters can look up to... or who could kick their rumps back in line if they start turning to the dark side. Tracing back to my sophmore year of Highschool he is my first V&V character and thus is based upon Moi. :th_dblthumb2:

the Current Den City Campaign I am running does not have The Rook however, I decided that this is an alternate universe that had someone else filling the Rooks "size eleven shoes of rump-kicking evil" :th_dblthumb2:

which should throw off the scent for anyone who is familar with the previous campaigns I have run.... :th_coolio:....

Here's a character I really enjoyed playing for a while...

Autofire! (http://www.snapdrive.net/qs/482218145e6c)

Ah, the memories. I really miss MnM. Good times. Good times.

Oh, and his background:

The free-willed construct, now calling itself Autofire, began its humble existence as a prototype weapon system, developed for military application by an obscure research company with close ties to the Grant Conglomerate. Jonathan Grant, owner of the Megacorporation, felt it time to expand on his business portfolio by getting more serious in the field of advanced technologies. In reality, he was talked into signing on by a respected associate, the brilliant scientist, Professor Maximillian Huff. Grant was CEO of Huff’s small think-tank, Advanced Research Technologies, one of many such entities under the Grant umbrella.

With Grant’s financial backing, the venture was codenamed Project: ATFR (Autonomous Tactical Fighting Robot) and was the brainchild of Professor Huff. The purpose of his project was to design, develop and establish the next generation of unmanned war machine. Huff understood there would always be war, but why must humans die fighting them? He wanted to create a practical combat drone. With it he could save the lives of countless soldiers in the future. Soldiers like his son, Arthur, who died serving his country years earlier, during the first Gulf War.

ATFR-013 was the thirteenth generation and final prototype in the line. It took Huff nearly five years to get to that stage, not counting the time spent in theoretical design and research. Autofire was the pinnacle of development and the final stage before mass production could begin. All that was left was to schedule a final field test, to work out any remaining bugs in the system.

Unfortunately, no such test ever occurred. As it turned out, the Foundry was tipped off to the operation by Mr. Grant’s daughter, Sarah. Though it is unknown if she did it intentionally or not. Either way, the Foundry did not like the thought of having such potentially dangerous competition nosing in on their field of expertise. So they decided to make a statement by shutting down the project by force, taking the prototype in the process if at all possible. Destroying it if not.

On the night before the final test was schedules to occur, a nervous Professor Huff was unable to sleep and found himself back at the lab. He decided to do a complete purge and overhaul of prototype ATFR-013’s neural frame in an effort to tighten up its operational parameters. He wanted to do everything in his power to insure nothing would go wrong the next morning. His life’s work needed to produce results.

When the Foundry attacked, it went in with destruction on its agenda. Destruction and acquisition. When they reached the Professor’s lab, he was nearing completion of the prototype’s download. There was an accident and an explosion. The Professor was thrown back, into the computer core and killed by electrocution. And with no one to contest them, the Foundry managed to make off with prototype ATFR-013, and whatever notes and data they could scrounge up, before the rest of the lab went up in a fiery explosion.

Back at their facilities, the Foundry technicians and scientists began analyzing ATFR-013 in an attempt to reverse engineer any potentially new or useful technology. But they didn’t get far before something went wrong. Somehow the prototype self-activated. Worse, it immediately initialized its combat protocols. There was a great deal of damage done to the surroundings and staff before the robot managed to somehow escape.

It didn’t take long for the Foundry to reacquire the rogue device. For reasons unknown, the prototype went straight back to the place of its origins. But all it found was a building in ruins. It searched for the Professor’s body, but could find no remains. When the Foundry located it, the prototype was sitting hunched over in the ruins of its birthplace, motionless, holding its metal head in its hands. It put up no resistance to its recapture.

Initial examination showed the robot possessed a rudimentary emotional response to certain stimuli. Yet nothing in the project notes or charter even hinted at such a stage in the machine’s development. Despite their best efforts, the Foundry was inexplicably unable to reprogram or alter the prototype’s programming in any way. Perhaps, during the accident that disrupted the final download process, the robot’s neural frame was somehow fused or damaged. Regardless, it is clear the prototype’s programming was static and permanent, emotional anomalies and all.

Once the Foundry realized that the robot could not be made to serve their needs, Talos ordered the prototype dismantled and its collective parts reverse-engineered for possible application in their own technologies. Unfortunately, ATFR-013 would not go down so easily. Before they could take a cutting torch to it, the robot’s defensive instincts kicked in. It fought its way out of the facility and made its escape. And this time the Foundry showed no interest in pursuing it. It was of little use to them in its condition and had done enough damage to warrant them thinking twice about another round. In the end, they deemed it fiscally imprudent to continue and washed their hands of the whole thing.

In the few short years ATFR-013’s been at large, it has struggled to come to grips with its altered programming. Its new emotions have been confusing to it, making it easy to manipulate and control. For several months Autofire the robot found brief employment with the Yakuza, protecting their interests against the ever hostile Mafia. There were several bloody clashes that did not go well for the Italians. He also saw brief service recently with the Power Corps, proving useful to them in a heist at a certain Foundry facility. Should Talos learn of the robot’s involvement, the Foundry may have second thoughts regarding the rogue machine’s existence.

It wasn’t until his clash against the Atom Family, last year, that he was able to realize his true potential and come to grips with his supplanted emotional matrix. He now fights against evil in honor of young Chase Atom and all he’s done for him.

The character sheet for Mauler I made... the artwork was also my own for the character and name/etc

The second one, Capacity, is done using the Simpson Character sheet that can be downloaded from my website:

http://www.valdier.com, Just check the downloads section.

After creating the character, I exported the page to an image, and then added the character image which I believe is done by Storn Cook (although not positive at this point). The lightning/electricity effects were all done by me and just layered into the page with photoshop.

I have a decent number of characters from the comics on my site on the right hand side if you want semi-stock MnM characters. All of the "Name" artwork was done by me, the images for the comic characters themselves were obviously done by their respective comic book artists. Anything in the custom section is 100% done by me including the character art. (Except Block I think which was done by Chris) (I am not an artist ;) )

Well, where I first played the character "Capacity" was in a white event. Some meteors or some such thing streaked across the sky killing some portions of the world, infecting people with radiation and invoking powers in people (or some twist to this semi-common event for the GM at the time). This was the first time super anythings existed in our modern world.

We spent a bit of time running around fixing problems, dealing with mostly casual thugs, etc.

The campaign unfortunately ended way too early as the GM wanted to hand off the reigns to another player, and well... nobody else wanted to take over his game.

Mauler I have played off and on in the previous BBP game through so many adventures I can't even remember them all. Drug smuggling super people enhancers... ninja problems... demons being summoned to the earth... a minor magical evoker with a team of monsters (The graveyard shift... still my favorite villain team ever).

Another character:

Val - Intergalactic Bounty Hunter.pdf (http://www.valdier.com/roleplaying/MnM/Character_sheets/Val - Bounty Hunter.pdf)

A multi-thousand year old alien hunter in the Freedom City universe (minor background blurb, badly written on page 2)

Oh yeah. I remember that game. I played your rambunctious alien sidekick, "Ghak!" (named after the annoying sound he always made).

Good stuff.

Ghak was a lot of fun. Very much a blatant rip-off of Stitch (one of my favorite Disney characters ever), but with a slight twist: when angered or frightened, he grew into a hulking, brutish beast. :D

Coolest aspect/secret about him was that he was far more dangerous in his little form. Sure being big was intimidating and he could rip open doors and such. But tactically, his small form was wicked effective in battle.

Yeah. They made a great duo. Lots of cool synergies.

Check out Ghak's feats. He's all about Aid Other +5.

And when he felt like getting his hands dirty, he would literally climb around on the foe; getting in his way, distracting him and otherwise pissing him off. All the while Val was doing his thing to an even greater effect.

There were so many nasty and annoying things I could do with him. I had a blast, I can assure you.
