Hey everyone - I'll be off for awhile. I'm working on a new project with a friend and will come back and tell you more.
It's based on a V&V adventure I did and put up on Lulu.com entitled "Pilgrim".
That's it! I'll pop in now and then, I guess (old habits die hard) but I hope to do a good job on this as its my first venture in this arena.

Looking good, Skip. The artist/publisher is finishing up my script now and was very pleased with it!

Looking forward to what you come up with, Justice! I still have a copy of Pilgrim and will likely run it some day in our campaign (might even incorporate a long-standing villain named Jihad into it as well.
Best of luck and blessings on your project!

Ah - much sadness everyone.
Lulu.com - our print-on-demand publisher - just shot their prices up to make this endeavor unprofitable for all concerned.
:sad010:
We are looking into other venues - but THANK you for all the encouragement!
And I will let you know if another avenue opens up!

Hey!!
Dave Sim may have gone off the deep end at about the half-way mark, but "Cerebus" contains some truly brilliant work. Also, his contributions to the cause of creators' rights are worth more than a little respect, as well as his pioneering in self-publishing. His legacy transcends his later nuttiness.

I agree with all that but the guy created a womyn-hating religion because he's been divorced so many times
besides there's only one dave sim in this world, anymore and I don't think I could take living in it

Firstly, I think your analysis of Dave Sim is more than a little superficial, as well as misinformed. He hasn't had a large succession of marriages and divorces. He was also diagnosed as borderline schizophrenic back in 1980, IIRC. Saying he "created a womyn-hating religion because he's been divorced so many times" is shallow and inaccurate. I too deplore what happened to him post issue #150, especially the "Tangents" essay, but assigning some sort of moral culpability to someone who very likely is dealing with an Axis I psychotic disorder is dubious. And despite his admittedly reprehensible views on gender, he has given a lot to the industry and has had a profound effect on it for the better. I think you're being a tad facile.

Sorry I haven't memorized the biography of an obscure comic books cult figure :-(
I do agree that he's done a lot of good but he's helped create the "everything Marvel and DC do is evil" attitude which is as poisonous as thinking that everything they do is made of sunshine and puppies
Thanks for dragging me into a debate when all I was doing is trying to iceburn Justice sadface :(

Uhm... touchy much? You brought him up, right?

I disagree, but clearly you don't feel like debating the point, so I'll let it go at that.

Gee, sorry for responding to what I saw as an inaccuracy... Next time, I'll just let you post in peace, okay? Perish forbid disagreement be registered and conducted in a civil manner...

I forgot that this place was more about discussion then witty (for the internet) one liners.
Ok, well about Dave Sim, don't get me wrong, I love the first half of Cerebus to death. I've read some of his editorials and they seem to indicate that if you're not self-publishing, then you are contributing to the destruction of the universe. At least that's what I got from them.

Well, this place, i.e. the Supers forum, is ostensibly about friendly chat about Supers gaming and comics to some extent. The debate stuff is supposed to be more or less relegate to GE&R, so mea culpa too, I guess.

So how (in a nutshell) did he go "nutty"? I never really followed Cerebus, and haven't heard anything about Mr. Sim in years.
Just curious...

He came to believe that women ultimately were little more than vampires, it seems, draining the will and creativity from their men. Plus, he developed an interesting religion where he was simultaneously Jewish, Christian and Muslim. His "Tangents" essay was the beginning of the end, really.

Wow! Sounds like he really went off the deep end! :whacky028:

Oh - funnyyy - My main character in my book is a Jewish believer in the Messiah - a "Jewish Christian" if you will. ;)
On Dave Sim
I liked Dave Sim's earlier work too. But the embattled heart can become the embittered heart given enough time - and as Chim points out - a little bit of mental health issues.
They run rife through the creative field, as you might guess.
Anyway, thanks for the encouragement. Timing of this failure is strange and I will be talking to my editor/bud/pastor about what we can do instead.
