I'm just waiting to see whether my worthless Mariners lose 100. It's going to be close, but I have faith in them.

(That said, it would be nothing short of awesome to have a postseason that didn't involve the Red Sox or the Yankees. Hopefully, the Red Sox fall apart.)

Boston's playoff clinch magic number is two as of the end of games yesterday. They're going to make it no matter what if they win two of their last nine.

I just looked up the White Sox's schedule and they have three games with Minnesota next week. The only way for Boston to outright miss the playoffs is for them to lose all their remaining games, the Twins to win all their remaining games (including sweeping the White Sox), and for the White Sox to win all their games outside of the Twins series. Otherwise Boston at least gets a play-in game for the wild card.

Well, its not a complete impossibility, but does require astounding levels of effort on the part of all involved
