Here is the reserve character I have in the M&M-campaign I play in. I will offer it as an example of what a M&M-char can look like. Since I know my fellow players aren't reading this, I can do it without spoiling things.

The GM will use it as a background NPC until it is needed. He thought he could have some fun with her. At present it is made at Power lvl 10, with 150 point build (the standard). In case she becomes an active character, then she will be upgraded to the same lvl as the rest of the chars.

The char is a "reformed" villainess. Reformed in the sense, that she got caught, and the authorities told her thats he could either help them track down and take out all the rogue heroes and villains out there (supers who didn't like the authorities demand for them to register their real ID etc), or they would put her back in the maximum security prison (and more or less throw away the key).

Civilian costume: Dressed in a tight sleeveless leather catsuit. Knee-high high-heeled boots. A pair of dark sunglasses, and wears a broad belt made out of metal plates on her hips.

Costume: A wide black hooded mantle, that encircles her. A black domino-mask, thigh-high boots with stiletto heels, long black operagloves, and an outfit that would make the Balck Queen (of marvel's Hellfire-club) proud.

background
Cassandra grew up in Chicago, where she early on joined a gang and did some monor crimes. During a break-in robbery when she was 17, something went wrong. She got caught by the elderly magician that owned the place she had broken into. Instead of turning her in to the authorities, he decided to make her his personal plaything and slave. So through his evil magic, he totally dominated her mind, but also gave her super-powers so that she would eb able to serve him better. This lasted for a few years until the magician was killed in a battle with some superheroes, thus breaking his hold over her. So even though she now lacked a master to seve, she was still a convinced villain.

Cassandra escaped form the place, and entered a career as a professional thief and spy, where she sold her services to anyone who would pay her (and pay well they did). She prefers to keep in the background, and instead use guile and evil tricks instead of fighting honestly. She doesn't mind violence though and has even ommited atatcks of sabotage.

it wa sher temper that finally put her reeally in trouble, as she came home and found her girfriend at that time cheating on her with a corrupt cop who used his power to manipluate people into ruin (think Vic from The Shield). In anger she killed them both, even thoughhte death of her girlfriend was an accident. She missed though that the corrupt cop had put up a hidden videocamera in a bookshelf that had filmed it all.

Cassandra got caught at, and sent to serve her prison sentence at Blockrock maximum security prison. She were released from there by a hero during an alien attack against the Earth, in exchange for helping defend the Earth. She then managed to stay away until the authorities caught up with her again after the aliens had been driven back.

Even if she didn't have a master to be loyal to, she was still a determined villain.

Cassandra fled from the place and entred a career as a professional thief and spy, where she sold her services to those that paid the best. She prefers to keep in the background and use lust and dirty tricks instead of fighting honestly, even if she doesn'r mind using violence. She never cared about who her clients were or what their agendas were as long as they paid well.

Her temper finally brought her more trouble than she could chew, as she one night came home to her girlfriend, and found that the girlfirend was cheating on her with a corrupt police officer who used his power to bring ruin to people. In anger, she used her powers and killed both, even if the girlfriend's death was an accident. She had missed though that there was a hidden videkomaera in a bookshelf and it had caught everything on tape. Cassandra got caught and sentenced to life at Blackrock. She was released from there by a superheroine during the war against the Kheran empire, in exchange for helping fighting the alien invasion. After the war she managed to stay hidden for a couple of months, until the goverment caught her again. They offered her a full pardon if she helped them stop some of the heroes that the govement now saw as enemies of the state. She agreed to the terms, and then after it was done, she was free to continue her previous life as a professional thief and spy. She was hired by the European President to be a part of his security detail during an important conference.

Cassandra might be immoral, but is unquestionable loyal as long as she is paid. She will also never discuss previous employers or jobs. Those that do need her services, they find her through word-of-mouth.
