I just rescued this as a 'porn-bot' (one of Ultron's own, I guess) began attacking the thread at RPG Host forums!
_________________________________________________-

When I think of bad momma jama robots that appered BEFORE the Terminator, I think of either Gort from The Earth the Day Stood Still or Ultron.

I'm making it easier on myself and others by posting this separately from the villains thread - and I am NOT going to go through ALL the iterations and powers of this villain. I have a life. ;)

But...

...we WOULD like a snapshot of him form waaay back in Avengers 162 or so, wouldn't we?

So here he be.

I'll just post a pic first, to whet the appetite.

About Ultron
Funny thing was to find out how "mental" this robot really was - super-strong, invulnerable, but his real power is his mental "psi" abilities, how he attacks the Avengers mentally and puts in latent mind-control commands.

No, seriously - read the comics!

Here we go:

"Fools! Dolts! Ultron is SUPREME!"

Ultron
Level: 8
Age: ?
Sex: N/A (a masculine robot, Ultron will be referred to as "he" instead of "it")

Powers:

1. Robotic Body x 2 – 60% Human appearance, 3x weight, +40 Strength
Internal Device: Molecular Rearranger – functions as Regeneration at a quantum level. Ultron can, unlike other Robots, fix himself internally and even "re-grow" his ADR overnight (see below). He is self-repairing to such a degree that the smallest part of him could conceivable contain enough information to have a whole new body re-built, though it may take days or weeks, since he must have raw materials to use. However, he cannot re-form from mystic bolts, magic, and any other probability-altering forces as they disrupt the quantum field equations he is using –badly.

Psionics Device: 4 abilities
* Ht. Intelligence B + 20 – Ultron has been created – unbeknownst to the Avengers – using the brilliant Hank Pym's encephalograms. He can think creatively and is self-willed in every aspect.

* Program Transmission/Download - Using Movement only, Ultron can transmit his entire sentience to another location: PR=12, covering INT miles/turn (cf. Astral Projection)

* Encephalo Beam Attack – attacks as Paralysis Ray, PR = 8, and removes 3d10 from INT (plus damage bonuses). If INT drops to "0" person appears dead, but is in fact in a severe coma – INT returns at 1 per hour under medical care. (Note: Iron Man did create a defense against this, a One-shot Invention that kept each Avenger's neural synapses form being affected. Ultron, after this defeat, rejected its use in future battles).

* Mind Control (1/2): "Hypnotic Suggestion" – Mind Control as per rules. Ultron can mesmerize unsuspecting foes but it takes one full Action and Movement to do this, PR=8 and one Movement per Turn afterwards to keep control. (GM Note: thus Ultron prefers to use this when he is immobile). Ultron can also implant latent commands into such an unwitting mind, to be carried out months later, but this "Implanted Command" requires 1-4 Inventing Points each time from Ultron, depending on the complexity of command.

2. Body Power: SSR 30 or Armor B: ADR 130 with Invulnerability - 30
Ultron has an outer shell of "purest adamantium", and as such it cannot even be dented by Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. Because of this, Ultron's blows are especially effective. There are two ways to express this, GM's choice:

a) Ultron's skin has an SSR of 30, which is applied against each attack. Thus, if an attack doesn't do more than 30 points of damage, it does nothing whatsoever. This is very accurate and true to the published Avengers issues. When striking Hand-to-Hand, grant Ultron +6 on damage, due to hardness of his fists (SSR 30/5).

b) Ultron's skin is Armor B 130 with and additional Invulnerability of 30 points. Thus, Ultron can be slowly beaten down by team attacks or any size; they all add up – and this seems true to earlier incarnations of Ultron. In HtoH, add +6 to damage.

3. Flight – STR 55 x END 15 = 825 mph, Mach 8.25 in Hyper-flight (rules are 10x too high)
4. Animated Servants: Androids – Ultron is a master of creating life-like humanoid androids. While it may seem strange he does not take a human form himself, it is assumed he would have to sacrifice his adamantium shell to do so. All fight at 4th level and have a 12 in all stats. 20 points to demolish.
5. Sonic Abilities – Ultron may attack his foes sonically (1d12, PR = 5) or mimic any voice he has heard. Special Attack: Area – causes fatigue for 1d4 turns as victims recover.
6. Lightning Control – Ultron can command and control all machines in INT" radius. He can also shoot an EM blast for 2d10 of damage.

Weakness: Psychosis – Ultron hates his "father" Henry Pym and wishes to destroy him and all he loves – his wife Janet Van Dyne and their allies the Avengers. Ultron is power-mad and will go to any lengths to demoralize and destroy the Avengers. It is of note that Ultron seems to want to destroy the minds of his foes more than their bodies. Perhaps because he believes the mind is the truest self –as it is for him. GM NOTE: Once Ultron loses the ability to affect the Avenger's minds or take what he wanted from them, he invariable screams his revenge and leaves at hyper-sonic speeds/hidden exits/etc.

Background/History: Arguably the greatest and certainly the most horrific creation of scientific genius Dr. Henry Pym, Ultron is a criminally insane rogue sentient robot dedicated to conquest and the extermination of humanity. Years ago, inspired by his studies of Professor Gregson Gilbert's synthetic Dragon Man, Pym began experimenting with artificial intelligence. Building a structurally crude robot (a torso on tank treads with spindly arms), Pym endowed it with consciousness, using a copy of his own brain patterns as the basis for the robot's programming; however, the robot inherited not only Pym's great intellect, but also Pym's inherent mental instability, only without a human conscience. To Pym's surprise, the robot developed an advanced intellect within moments of its activation, and an unexpected capacity for emotion; most notably, it was filled with irrational hatred for its "father" Pym and the human race Pym represented. Overpowering and mesmerizing Pym, the robot-which soon dubbed itself Ultron-hypnotically commanded Pym to forget its existence and abandon the New Jersey lab where it was created. Pym did as commanded, and after the lab was closed up, Ultron returned. Using the lab's equipment, Ultron rebuilt himself completely four times, making improvements and modifications each time. Rechristening himself Ultron-5, he now felt ready to make war on humanity-and in particular the Avengers, the heroic super-team which counted Pym among its founding members.

Acting indirectly at first, Ultron encountered fellow Avengers enemy Eric Williams (the Grim Reaper) and supplied him with the coma-ray technology the Reaper would later use against the Avengers. Later, adopting the super-criminal guise of the Crimson Cowl to conceal his robotic nature, Ultron recruited Avengers foes Klaw, Melter, Radioactive Man and Whirlwind and formed a new Masters of Evil group to destroy the Avengers. Avengers butler Jarvis, secretly mesmerized into serving Ultron, supplied the Masters with plans of the Avengers Mansion security system and even posed as an alternate Crimson Cowl (supposedly the real one) to help conceal Ultron's true identity. In the end, the Avengers defeated the Masters with the aid of the Black Knight (Dane Whitman), who had infiltrated Ultron's Masters-and Ultron was exposed as the true Cowl, though he escaped.

Following Pym's example as a creator, Ultron sought to create an artificial being of his own. Acquiring the inert form of the android Human Torch from the Mad Thinker, Ultron radically modified its appearance and abilities and programmed it with a personality based on the recorded brain patterns of the Grim Reaper's seemingly deceased brother, Simon Williams (Wonder Man). This android, later dubbed the Vision by the Wasp, attacked the Avengers on Ultron's behalf, but the Vision had the human conscience Ultron lacked and he turned on his creator, destroying Ultron and joining the Avengers. In the process, Pym regained his memories of creating Ultron, which became a source of tremendous guilt and anguish for him over the years, and a major factor in Pym's subsequent mental problems. While Pym's creation of Ultron became common knowledge, it was years before an ashamed Pym could admit that Ultron's mind was based on his own brain patterns.

Compelling an unwilling Vision to rebuild him as Ultron-6, Ultron gained a new body composed of the indestructible new super-alloy Adamantium, but the Avengers still managed to trick Ultron into self-destructing. Ultron's head survived and resurfaced in the Inhuman city of Attilan, where malcontent Maximus modified the head and built it into the body of the huge android Omega, creating the gigantic Ultron-7. When the Avengers and the Fantastic Four gathered in Attilan for the wedding of Crystal and Quicksilver, Ultron-7 attacked, but was deactivated by the vast psionic powers of Franklin Richards. Activating a spare body which he had created for himself during his Ultron-6 phase and held in reserve, Ultron mind-controlled Pym into helping him abduct Pym's wife, the Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), and used Van Dyne's mind as the programming template for the new feminine robot Jocasta, which Ultron intended to be his mate. However, the Avengers intervened, thanks in part to a summons generated by the seemingly inert Jocasta herself, and Ultron was forced to flee without his new bride. Later, Jocasta was fully activated by a summons from Ultron, admitting her love for her creator, but she was unwilling to tolerate Ultron's evil and sided with the Avengers, who destroyed Ultron yet again.

Powers
Ultron's abilities vary with each redesign, but typically include superhuman strength and durability, the power of flight, and various offensive weapons such as concussion blasters, radiation emitters and his "encephalo-ray", which plunges its victims into a deathlike coma. The latter ray also allows Ultron to mesmerize and outright mind-control his victims, or implant subliminal hypnotic commands within their minds to be enacted at a later time.

Ultron's outer shell is usually composed of Adamantium, rendering it almost totally impervious to damage; however, his internal mechanisms are generally less durable and more easily damaged. Ultron's Adamantium forms have proven vulnerable to molecular rearrangement devices and the metal-destabilizing ore known as Savage Land Vibranium ("anti-metal").

Some Ultron models feature tractor beams and energy absorption capabilities. Most Ultrons are powered by a small internal nuclear furnace, and incorporate a "program transmitter" which can beam part or all of Ultron's programming into remote locations such as computers or alternate robotic bodies. Ultron can often control other machines remotely even if he has not transplanted his consciousness into them. Ultron is one of the foremost robotics experts on Earth.

Paraphernalia
Ultron sometimes employs a "molecular rearranger" (which renders Adamantium temporarily malleable) for purposes of reconstructing or modifying his physical form. He has designed, built and wielded a wide variety of high-tech tools, weapons and accessories over time, such as his androne-mutation gas and his "roboticks", insect-like drones that devour human flesh.

Ultron has created a variety of robots and androids over the years, and while the more sophisticated ones typically turn against him sooner or later, they all feature subliminal programming which allows Ultron to manipulate them if need be (most notably a subliminal command to rebuild Ultron if he is destroyed).

First Appearance
Avengers #54 (1968)

Origin
Avengers #54 (1968)

Now its late - and I see that I have some room for improvement - the molecular rearranger is a tough one to see in game turns, but I'll get back on it in another day to clean 'im up.

Enjoy, Avengers!

Oh - and if you a good, "Mego Theater"-styled laugh at the expense of our misanthropic malevolent robotic tyrant, you need to read this here blog: Random happenstance (http://random-happenstance.blogspot.com/2008/03/downsizing.html)

4 stars baby! :D :D :D
