Quick recap of the schedule highlights for this, the final week of the regular season:
Archmages-Neanderthals square off, with the winner earning the #3 seed (in all likelihood) and the loser needing help in the form of losses by AJFederation to the Inmates, and The Demolition to the Skillets.
If either The Demolition or AJF lose, they are out of the playoffs. If there's one winner between them, that team likely beats out the Archmages-Neanderthals loser in total points, thereby securing the #4 playoff seed. If they both win, The Demolition has a 30-point (30.02 to be exact) lead over AJF at the moment, so that's by how much AJF needs to outscore The Demolition if they both win for AJF to qualify for the playoffs.
Trolls-Wookies will have a nice friendly while the final two playoff qualifiers emerge...
Injuries of Note
Dallas Clark and Hines Ward have already been ruled out for Week 14.
Ronnie Brown is still wearing a cast on his surgically-repaired hand, and will be out in Week 14, and likely out for Week 15, too.
Chester Taylor and Fred Gore are both dealing with an accumulation of nicks and dings. Gore will probably still play, Chester is questionable.
Willis McGahee has an ankle injury to add to his cracked ribs. Unclear how effective he'll be this week.
Marques Colston and Joe Horn are both suspect options for this week, and perhaps next week as well.
Marc Bulger has been taking painkillers in his ribs, and may in fact have a cracked rib or two right now. His prospects for this week are uncertain.
Jake Delhomme missed practice today with a sprained right thumb. He is questionable.
DeShaun Foster has been a late scratch the last two weeks with an elbow injury that does not allow him to hold the ball properly. Unclear whether he will be good to go this week.
Laurence Maroney missed most the Pats-Lions game last week with an undisclosed injury, but it looks like he is ready to go this week.
Randy Moss is still deep in the throes of terminal crapulence.
Trolls-Wookies will have a nice friendly while the final two playoff qualifiers emerge...
hehehehe. ;)

It'll suck if one of the playoff spots is occupied by somebody who abandoned the boards. So I'm hoping for a complete collapse of the AJ Federation even if I don't win this week.

If only Favre hadn't fucked around on that last play vs. Seattle...
Injury updates - Chester Taylor is now listed as doubtful.
I'm hearing rumors to the effect that Jake Delhomme has torn ligaments in his thumb, and will miss the Week 14 game vs. NYG.

Yep. I considered dropping Crumpler the week before Colston got hurt, and am now very glad I didn't.
Now I've just got to figure out what to do about my rapidly deteriorating QB situation.

The trade deadline stands. Even though we are just playing for fun, I'd just as soon leave things as they were set at the start of the season. Trade deadlines are important to prevent teams that are out of the running from going through a fire sale on their roster and giving their players away for less than market value. Not so important for this league, but it's the principle of the matter.
Next season, just remember to plan ahead for your trading needs, and look for trade opportunities earlier in the season. I'll borrow one of Parz's shrugs here -- *shrug*.

yeah I got burned by an injury that I think is going to pooch the deal for me. Going from the #2 quarterback to the Two Face wanna be that is otherwise known as Rex Grossman is likely not going to do me much good. :(

Also, Kellen Winslow scored 1.95 for the Skillets and Reuben Droughns 2.45 for the Inmates.

<grin> I'm suprised you still have Grossman. There are a lot of free agents out there that will reliably put up 10+ points a week.
;) With Rex, you're just hoping he stays out of the negatives. Anything else is a bonus.

Rex has either been negative a lot of points or as good as Mcnabb or Manning generally. There hasn't been a whole lot of in between. I've got eli if I want for the stretch here.

Here are the scores as the Giants-Panthers game come to the first half break.
Archmages-Neanderthals is hotly contested; each team has 5 players going in the early games.
Wily Corn Trolls are in the midst of absorbing their first spanking of the season -- every time KC gets something going on offense Baltimore turns them over, which takes LJ out of the picture and adds to the Ravens' D tally. Sometimes that's just the way it goes...
The Inmates-AJF is presently 8 Inmates players on 1 AJF player, and that one ain't LT.
I notice that Peyton is on the Skillets' bench. Tut-tut, that's not very sporting...

<weep>
Maurice Jones-Drew for rookie of the year IMHO. Especially with colston going down with an injury. I even decided not to start him against Indy because of how genrally good Stephen Jackson has been. (Despite Jackson going against Chicago...) I don't think Jackson is going to top 2 td's and all those yards though. :(

LT happened, bigger than life, in those last few minutes of Chargers-Broncos. The Demolition are about 16 points behind AJF for total points right now. Updated scores with live players listed below. Looks like Archmages are going to sew up the #3 seed, assuming Brees doesn't crap the bed vs. Dallas tonight.
Archmages - 88.20 (Brees)
Neanderthals - 75.18 (J. Wilkins)
2nd Helping Skillets - 54.20
The Demolition - 37.75 (Romo, M. Barber, Gramatica, Chicago)
AJFederation - 85.26 (Glenn, Holt, T. Jones)
The Alcatraz Inmates - 44.83 (McAllister)
The Avenging Wookies - 58.65 (Rex, TO, S. Jackson)
Wily Corn Trolls - 56.30 (Carney, Dallas)

Archmages - 132.08
Neanderthals - 75.18 (J. Wilkins)
2nd Helping Skillets - 54.20
The Demolition - 47.73 (Chicago)
AJFederation - 94.76 (Holt, T. Jones)
The Alcatraz Inmates - 53.48)
The Avenging Wookies - 68.20 (Rex, S. Jackson)
Wily Corn Trolls - 67.75
Chicago has their work cut out for them if they are going to rally The Demolition -- they need to outscore Holt and Thomas Jones by about 15 points. I get 15.02 points to the nearest 0.01. That's the drama that's left for the regular season.

I was shocked to see that the Archmages had pulled slightly ahead of me in the afternoon games. They were ten points down going into them, and then Gore exploded for me. (Of course, the Jets defense imploded for me, so maybe the feat isn't as impressive as it appeared at first glance.)
Then, of course, Brees happened.

As of Hester's 21-yard punt return with about 6 minutes left in the first quarter, The Demolition have a 5-point lead on the Skillets, but trail AJF by 6 points for aggregate score.
EDIT -- Ooh, and now Chicago has just pinned the Rams on their own 1. What will happen?!

EDIT -- Ooh, and now Chicago has just pinned the Rams on their own 1. What will happen?!
And the answer: a 99-yard TD drive capped off by a scoring pass to Torry Holt.
BUT, Devin Hester returns the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a score. Unbelievable. The Demolition secure the W vs. The Skillets with that play, and it's still about a 6-point gap between AJF and The Demolition for aggregate season score.
We could be in for a wild ride tonight...
EDIT -- Aggregate scores as of halftime:
AJF - 1261.76
The Demolition - 1254.30
That's about a 0.6% difference, if you're wondering.
AJF have Holt and T. Jones going, and The Demolition have the Chicago D/ST.

What's really messed up is that KC goes to SD next week. I'm hoping that KC desperation at least manages to get LJ to blow up to counteract LT's likely up-blowing.
If Colston comes back OK and Delhomme returns next week, I can throw Smith/Wayne/Fitz/Colston as my four WR/TE slots. It could get crazy with the pointage...

I've been doing updates from the lab, so I haven't been watching the game. Was it Grossman's overturned fumble that was sketchy?
Pretty much.
If they didn't call it a fumble, they'd have had to call it intentional grounding. He was in the pocket, wrapped up, and not throwing in the direction of any receiver.
But they didn't.
That wasn't the source of my disgust, though. That's just refs being too protective of QBs at the insistence of the owners. I hate it, but as long as it's consistant, I can stomache it. (Even though I'll bellyache.)
There were penalties on St. Louis that that were extremely ticky-tacky. But Chicago was doing the same things, more blatantly, and not getting called. The two sides were clearly being held to different standards.
And that's just wrong.
It was wrong when it happened to Seattle in the Superbowl. And it was wrong when it happened to Pittsburg in the AFC championship.

The early Yahoo line has AJF as a 5.5-point favorite over WCT, and that's with my plugging in Addai and Colston at RB and TE. They are projected to score close to 25 points between them as of Tues., but that could drop a lot with the fact that they are both a little nicked up.
