Plot/NPC Notes for IC Threads

Since we've been going at it for a bit more than a year now, I thought it would be useful to have a quick reference thread to help everyone remember the gist of what has happened and who the PCs have met over the course of the adventure.

Each subsequent post in this thread will have the PCs and NPCs involved for a separate in-character thread as well as salient plot points. NPCs met for the first time in whatever thread will have links to their pictures in the Dramatis Personae thread. If you need more details, I'll also include a link to the summarized thread.

The Justicar informs the PCs that a Malkavian Diabolist seems to be working their way up their lineage
The latest victim, Delbert Villon, was one of the Justicar's progeny, strongly implying that Arcadian is next on the hit list
The PCs are tasked with investigating a suspect, Samantha Drake of New Orleans
The Tremere NPCs will accompany the PCs to N.O. and look for a missing Tremere elder known as Lazarus

Salient Plot Points


The two right tires of the Justicar's van are shot out about two-thirds of the way from Dallas to Houston
The PCs are taken to Lucian, a renegade Tremere who leads an Anarch band that seems to roam the Texas countryside
Lucian informs the PCs and the Dallas Tremere that he was commissioned by one Tammy Seton to get rid of them while they were in transit to Houston
Merill loses his cool for a moment and accuses Lucian of being in league with a diabolist
The van tires are replaced when Lucian's underlings lead everyone back to the highway

Salient Plot Points


Sparks fly right off the bat as Prince Casimir demands to know the cause of the Dallas Kindred's untimely arrival
The Dallas contingent dithers, to the Prince's increasing agitation, until Menachem finally spills the beans on the encounter with Lucian
The PCs inform their Dallas superiors about the plan to astrally interview Lucille Desmoulins, a Marseilles Malkavian and possible witness to the attack on Delbert Villon
Justicar Walsh requests Rebekka to accompany the PCs to New Orleans for extra protection during the interview
Rebekka takes the Dallas Kindred to the Fondren Library on the campus of Rice University, where they meet Sarah Cobbler, one of Rebekka's subordinates
(Jocelin exhibits the first signs of hilarious flakiness)
The Kindred all embark on a daytime ride to New Orleans in a sunproofed stretch limo, while Rebekka's ghouls drive the limo, Jocelin's ride, and a rented sedan

Salient Plot Points


The Texas Kindred introduce themselves to Mr. Johnson, Prince of New Orleans, and his assembled progeny on the Prince's houseboat haven, located about 30 minutes off shore by speedboat
Included among the Prince's childer is Demetrious Slater, the alleged attacker of Samantha Drake
After informing Mr. Johnson of their suspicions concerning Samantha, the Texas Kindred leave to feed off Mr. Johnson's herd and to prepare for the seance interview with Mme. Desmoulins
The thaumaturgical warding to protect Menachem's physical body during his trans-Atlantic astral travel culminates in Rebekka severing her left pinky to complete the invocation of the four quarters/archangels/elements
After making contact with the Mme., the PCs question her about Delbert, prompting her to relive the discovery of his body, a jarring incident to the interlopers in the Mme.'s mind
Delbert's likely attacker does come through in memory, and is of similar build to Samantha, but the faces don't quite match up
Once the interview with the Mme. is over, Menachem comes back and investigates the Drake manor
Samantha herself greets Menachem in astral form a short time after his arrival, at which they exchange pleasantries
Menachem finds nothing of note that links Samantha to the attack on Delbert while conducting his search of the mansion

Salient Plot Points


The Texas Kindred are granted a second audience with Mr. Johnson so that they may interview Demetrious about his side of the story
Fractious words are exchanged at the start of the interview as Demetrious dissembles, and Mr. Johnson threatens to contact agents of the Toredaor Justicar, Gwynnis
Demetrious continues to dissemble despite urgings from both the Prince and Justicar Walsh's agents and ultimately collapses into a torporous state when the questioning begins to heat up
A hurried discussion ensues as to who could have affected Demetrious so powerfully
The Texas Kindred make plans to investigate Samantha's haven, the last known meeting places of Demetrious and Samantha, and potential meeting sites between Justicar Walsh's agents and Sammy. The Dallas Tremere come ashore to search for Lazarus' body, and Mr. Johnson has one of his subordinates contact Gwynnis' network to apprise her of the latest developments in New Orleans

Salient Plot Points


Jocelin and Menachem head ashore with Kallista and Rebekka to hunt and do some canvassing of Demetrious's hunting grounds
First stop is the dance club City Lights, where Jocelin and Kallista get their swerve on. Rebekka exhibits a lot more spaciness than normal during this excursion
Nothing too specific turns up at this place
Next stop is the 544 Club, a jazz bar. During a lull in the questioning, Rebekka Sue reveals herself to be a virtuoso jazz pianist
The hunting/investigating party eventually meets with Camille Devereux, a local Gangrel who will take everyone to a witness of the last meeting between Demetrious and Samantha
At one of the city's Elysium locations (Storyville Jazz Hall), Felecia Mostrom (a Toreador), Bianca (a Brujah), and Sabine Lafitte (a Tremere) are waiting in a mezzanine-level booth. Camille and Rebekka arrive after the other the Kindred do
Felecia testifies that she saw Demetrious and Sammy together after the time of the alleged attack. This prompts some discussion as to whether Demetrious or even the Prince himself are under adverse mental control. Rebekka gives a lecture that suggests it may be possible

Salient Plot Points


Adrianne takes Leo and Sarah to Samantha's mansion, and Sarah confirms that there is some sort of magical ward surrounding the whole building, one that would detect the presence of intruders
Leo eventually searches the premises, and finds a set of 12 bunks in a basement fallout shelter that all look as if they have had both recent and regular use
When returning to Adrianne's car, Rebekka's ghoul Dieter is found dead at the wheel
A pitched battle ensue in which both Adrianne and Sarah take multiple gunshot wounds. Leo engages in a thrilling game of Blind Man's Bluff with both a visible shotgun wielder and an invisible female pistol wielder.
Sarah manages to drive off one shotgun wielder and incinerate the other by means of fire-based Thaumaturgy. The effect is traumatic enough on Adrianne that she gets knocked into torpor after witnessing this display
Sarah laments Dieter's fall but soon thereafter feeds on his corpse, after which general cleanup and retreat back to the Prince's boat ensues

Salient Plot Points


Jack and Ramiel scope out the abandoned MLK Elementary School in the Lower Ninth Ward to assess its suitability as a meeting place between Justicar Walsh and Samantha
Having essentially finished scoping out the school, Jack and Ramiel are set upon by SMG- and bomb-wielding nuts in the parking lot
Ramiel gets plugged by a couple of SMG rounds, but Jack is unscratched
Jack manages to prevent a homemade bomb underneath Ramiel's car from blowing it up with some fast thinking, but his return throw was not so good
With the primary meeting location compromised, preparations for the meeting get moved to Andrew Jackson High School, the secondary location

Salient Plot Points


Rebekka incinerates Dieter's body and then consigns the remains to sea
The PCs receive handwritten invitations to a meeting at Samantha's mansion in two nights
The offer is rejected and a counterproposal prepared
Sabine gets a scolding for not presenting herself after her return to the city
After the debriefing, Sarah reminds Leo that he has an appointment with the Tremere tomorrow before going ashore

Salient Plot Points


Leo takes part in a Thaumaturgical ritual so that he can use one of Sarah's magic gadgets as a way to check on a Kindred's generation and whether they are descended from Justicar Walsh
Disturbing visions involving Arcadian occur to Leo after Rebekka assumes the Justicar's visage at the culmination of the ritual
At Jackson High, Jack (and eventually the remainder of the PCs) meet Sgt. Baker, who commands the fire teams that Mr. Johnson provided for support
Rebekka, having assumed the not-exactly-illusory visage of Arcadian during the ritual with Leo, maintains the form as she arrives to the to the meeting place with the other PCs. She also coordinates the movements of the Tremere and Toreador on site
Leo and Jocelin look for and find Bianca, who proves less than forthcoming about recent events on the ground, seeming to prefer to give vague, general answers to Leo's questions
Samantha herself does not appear at the meeting, but rather her envoy, who identifies herself as Heather of the clan Ventrue
After a bit of needling from Heather, Jocelin loses her cool and slices Heather's dress into shreds. Heather then assumes the likeness of Jocelin and handles herself rudely, causing Jocelin to go berserk
It takes the combined efforts of Leo, Ramiel, Sabine, Radeyah, and Sarah to finally subdue Jocelin, the deed achieved only after Sarah conjures a stake and drives it into Jocelin's heart
The conversation with Heather concludes with Leo arranging to meet at Sammy's mansion at 4 am
Rebekka spearheads efforts to wipe the memories of those who witnessed Jocelin's outburst
(Menachem exhibits the first signs of hilarious flakiness)
Jack assumes the form of an ape to help control Jocelin when the stake is removed from her heart
Rebekka reads Jocelin the riot act after she wakes up/calms down
Sarah half-apologizes for Rebekka's antics, apologizes for staking Jocelin, and offers her friendship to Jocelin
A subdued party returns to report back to Mr. Johnson

After presenting themselves, they (minus Anneke and Uma, sent to scout around) reconvene at House of Blues, meeting Bianca there
Some heated discussion between Leo and Jocelin ensues concerning the nature of her penance and what she's willing to do to her friends to further the investigation
Jocelin arrives At HoB shortly thereafter, and there is some discussion about the situation on the ground and the perceived heavy-handed treatment of her by Leo
Three more Brujah (Crusher, Rake, Anvil) meet those already at HoB
Crusher and Bianca head to Wal-Mart at Uma's prompting

Salient Plot Points


Aided by Anneke's super peepers, Uma finds Jack and Menachem while they are hunting in the French Quarter
She attempts to negotiate milder reparation terms for Jocelin and her Masquerade near-breach
After failing at this, Uma follows Jack and Menachem to Wal-Mart and calls for some backup
Bianca and Crusher arrive and are waiting with Uma when Jack and Menachem finish shopping
After further failed negotiations on behalf of Jocelin, Uma flips out and transforms into little Uma Swearingen
Uma's tantrum loses steam when she tries to attack Crusher and ends up getting both her hands crushed
The Brujah leave with the promise to try to convince others to help with the investigation of Samantha

Anneke tracks down Leo, who is monitoring Jocelin's conversation with the other Brujah and Antoinette at HoB from Jocelin's car, parked atop a nearby parking garage
Anneke pledges her help to Leo in the investigation and then recites her (short) lineage back to Caine
She then tampers with Leo's mind so that he will not reveal her until she permits it
