THE COLTS! THE COLTS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!
Good!
'Round about 7:30 (EST), I was dreading the next two weeks. Everyone was going to loathe the Pats. The country is sick to death of us. We'd be the Yankees. No New England team should be the Yankees. And to top it off, "The Superbowl Shuffle" would be a hit again.
It's better this way. It was a good, close game (although I'd have liked the Pats not to have fallen apart quite so bad in the second half) and Peyton finally gets to go to a Super Bowl. Everybody should be happy.

The Sports Guy just wrote about this (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/070119) in his column on Friday.
The Colts winning the SB could be the best thing that could happen for the Pats thinking about the next couple of years. If you think there is Peyton overload in commercials now, just wait until he actually wins a championship. The sick-of-it timetable for the Colts and Peyton will be substantially accelerated in that case, I predict.

I was cheering for the Bears 'cuz the Saints pissed me off with their no class playing a few weeks back against the Cowboys (not a big Cowboys fan, but I dislike poor sportsmanship). And I was cheering for the Colts 'cuz I like Peyton Manning. Good day for me. :)
And seriously, I REALLY HOPE that the Bears do another Superbowl Shuffle. Same song and even copy the same video, just with this year's team. I think that'd be awesome. :D

GO COLTS!
My brother was at the game today, so he must be stoked. He is a HUGE Colts fan, so that is my team of allegiance since I cannot root for the Dolphins anymore. Now I have a reason to watch the Super Bowl!

It's been pretty much all about big plays and turnovers midway through the 2nd quarter. Other than the opening kickoff return, the Colts look like they are actually winning the field position battle.

We'll see if that missed feild goal at the half proves to be big....

This is hilarious. It's like they're reshooting the video for Dire Straits' 'Walk of Life.'
I know, it's the rain. Still, very entertaining.

I liked the Purple Rain/Hey, Jupiter medley there at the end. At least, I think the howling at the end of that number was original to Tori Amos.

Maybe, but I think the Colts have some more scores in them yet. But I think Simms is right, it feels like they should have a bigger lead than they do.
Still waiting for Grossman to make a play...

Peyton really needs to quit his bellyachin' about the play calling. They're up 12 midway through the fourth, they've just pinned the Bears at their own 8, and Bad Rex has his hand prints all over this game so far....

Rex Grossman FTL!!!
Indeed so.

The second half was much less entertaining. Congratulations to Peyton, Tony and the Colts. I look forward to never hearing about Peyton's lack of championships ever ever again. The Bears will always have the memory of that first quarter, at least.

The Colts' win bears some resemblance to Denver's first Super Bowl win, when Terrell Davis ran for three scores vs. Green Bay to get Elway his first ring. Rhodes looked great when the Colts ran him straight ahead as opposed to sending him wide, and the Bears just couldn't cover Addai for the first two thirds of the game.

My wife is burning Grossman in effigy. Congrats to the Colts.
<grin> Starhawk, don't celebrate too much, hangovers suck as you get older.
I was suprised. Prince didn't suck.
But it will be a loooooooooong time before I buy a Snickers bar again.

Congrats to the Colts and to Starhawk. I don't think anybody here even had picked the Colts to go the Superbowl at the beginning of the playoffs, shows what we know.
Personally I would have liked to see the MVP go to either of the Colts running backs. Not that Payton didn't perform, he put up very respectable numbers in the rain. I just think the running game is what really carried this team. Especially against that tough Bears defense.
I was suprised. Prince didn't suck.
As was I but didn't that bandanna or whatever it was he had on his head make him look like Aunt Jemima.

I'm glad you said you taped the game now you can tell me if my eyes were playing tricks on me. First I noticed it by accident and then couldn't stop looking. Kind of like a car wreck
Take a look at Hesters feet. It may just be the odd orange trim on his shoes but I swear he has freakishly big feet. I'm talking clown shoe huge. Maybe thats where he gets his speed from.

i made a bet w/ a friend, a chicagoan, that indy would beat chicago. he and i have a running disagreement as to which pizza is superior: chicago-style, which he favors, or NY-style, which i prefer.
the wager: a blog entry extolling the virtues of the other's preferred form of pizza.
i'm very much looking forward to his blog entry some time today. :D

Chicago deep dish all the way. NY style crust is flavorless in my opinion. Not quite like eating cardboard but close.
