Lost Soul

Well, up for comments, my basic scenario:
The party's deific patron has contacted a PC who had to stay behind last adventure (the player couldn't make it.) The PC got a semi-cryptic message (OOC for the would-be goddess, who usually does stuff in person and isn't a sucker for prophecies in rhyme and other cliché fantasy stuff.) The message is something along the line of "Go meet your buddies, they're at a place that you really ought to explore, and there's something really important you have to do there."
The party's first task will be to figure out exactly why she wants them to explore the area. It's a ruined megapolis, filled to the brim with monsters. The party will have to do some exploration (I have 3-4 interesting sites in mind within the megapolis, as well as some ideas for a monstrous society within - think of the original Temple of Elemental Evil.) and information gathering to figure out exactly what they're looking for and why (the Pool of Anointment, to establish a direct link with their deity. The reason why she's cryptic is that according to the rules governing gods, the involvement she can have with the party is limited, and she's already skirting the limits and in some case stepping over it a bit. Telling them where to go via a cryptic dream message is already pushing it, telling them why would be a running leap over said limit.)
The second part (interlaced with the first part, really - I don't want to hold the party's hand any more than necessary) is to figure out how exactly to reach the Pool, and what to do once they're there.
The third part will be reaching the Pool and getting anointed in it.
Part one and two will be contain some background exposition on how exactly divine conflicts work, via the device of the story of the Megapolis itself. Not sure what it is yet, but it got destroyed because of divine conflicts. Part 3 will be a straight dungeon crawl through what remains of the shrine where the Pool is located.
